Snack Review: Sensible Portions Cinna-Swirl 100 Calorie Packs

I should know something about 100 calorie packs. As someone who spent the better part of high school filling approximately half my daily calories with the empty sugar goodness of the little Nabisco snack packs, I can decidedly say that I am one of, in not the, foremost experts on the virtues of portion controlled crap on the planet. Neigh, the solar system. Scratch that. The Galaxy.

Ok, hyperbolic intro concluded. Point is, I enjoy 100 calorie packs, because when you think about it, you could pack eight of these things in a lunchbox during a given workday, and make the time pass by faster by pacing yourself at downing one pack an hour. And when you have a job as boring and frustrating as mine, a single, proper lunch is just absurd. It’s what got me through high school (granted, I’d go through two of these during math classes) and I’m finding that it’s getting me through this real world nonsense.

Unfortunately, Sensible Portions Cinna-Swirl crisps don’t come in eight packs but rather five packs. Unfortunate because that will only cover five hours on the job for me, and leave me ravenous the other three.

Like any 100 calorie pack, you shouldn’t expect the real deal here. Instead, you’ve got to appreciate these for what they are (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing considering I may or may not need a microscope to  portion out 100 calories of an actual cinnamon roll.) What they are, might just be the best use of a faux white chocolate coating known to man, woman, child or wildebeest; with a  thick and sweet palm oil icing that supplements a nice cinnamon taste and crispy bite from the “roll.”  No, it ain’t a Cinnabon, but it is one of the better 100 calorie packs I’ve ever had. And that’s saying something considering I’ve had ’em all.

Pros: Killing time at work. Awesome faux white-chocolate icing. Dissolve in your mouth texture but crunchy bite.

Cons: 3 hours of work to actually spend working. Lacks ooey-gooey amazingness of an actual cinnamon bun.

Price: .75 cents (Reduced at Sharp Shopper)

Overall GrubGrade: 8.50 (in terms of 100 calorie packs, fo sho)

or would you rather have cinnabon cereal?

I’ve never seen those. My favorite 100 calorie packs/treats are Lorna Doone cookies and Hershey’s chocolate covered pretzels.

I actually have a box of something similar I bought at aldis which there are 6 in the box and only 90 calories but look exactly the same as what you have. You’re spot on with the description of these. Nice review.
