Review: Mozzarella Sticks from Burger King
When Burger King already introduced us to Mac n’ Cheetos and followed it up with Flamin’ Hot Mac n’ Cheetos, promoting a wide release of Mozzarella Sticks seems like a step back. Burger King describes their Mozzarella Sticks like this:
Mozzarella cheese coated in an Italian-style seasoned breading, fried crispy until golden brown and served hot and melty with a marinara dipping sauce.
Mozzarella Sticks aren’t new to Burger King. They’ve appeared at participating locations in the past. This was my first try so I was eager to review.
Mozzarella Sticks are one of those side items in fast food that has never stood out as very good or very bad. The range seems to be mediocre to slightly better than decent. Monsterella Stix from Checkers/Rally’s were on the mediocre side. Arby’s was a small step up from that…. and McDonald’s had a fairly decent showing. Burger King’s Mozzarella Sticks fall in the middle of that mix. Burger King’s Mozzarella Sticks have a great, thick crust devoid of too much oil. No overly greasy fingers here so grubbing on the go is easy. Fortunately, the breading wasn’t seasoned to the point it was too salty. The amount of milky mozzarella inside the crusty capsules was plentiful enough to not separate from its exterior. The mozzarella melt was so-so. At a price of $1.99 for 4, Burger King’s Mozzarella Sticks are a fair deal when compared to other fast food mozzarella stick values. That said, it’s weird that 10 chicken nuggets are 50 cents cheaper. A slight value hit I found is that just one marinara sauce wasn’t enough. I would’ve liked a double portion or just give us a bigger sauce container BK. Burger King’s Mozzarella Sticks are average fast food fare. They didn’t wow me, but mozz sticks rarely ever do. A simple and welcomed side item that adds to the variety of a fast food menu that has plenty of cheap options.
Pros: Great crust. Grubbing on the Go.
Cons: I'd like extra marinara.
Grubbing on-the-go: 8.00/10
Price: $1.99 for 4
Overall GrubGrade: 6.25/10
