Review: Cheesy Bacon Fries from McDonald’s
My international McDonald’s travels have taken my taste buds to The Netherlands, Spain and Canada because of the Worldwide Favorites menu. Last and unfortunately least… Cheesy Bacon Fries from Australia.McDonald’s describes their Cheesy Bacon Fries like this:
Dig in to a cheesy, crispy, satisfying McDonald’s favorite from Australia. Made from premium potatoes like the Russet Burbank and the Shepody, our Cheesy Bacon Fries are golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and covered with real cheddar cheese sauce and chopped Applewood smoked bacon
Perfectly good McDonald’s Fries were ruined with so-called real cheddar cheese sauce. Let’s review:The golden, crisp exterior of McDonald’s Fries drenched in a bath of orange funk. For the most part, it seemed like the salt was put on hold for this foreign tasting mess. When I say foreign, I don’t mean Australian, I mean sorta alien. Cheddar Bacon Fries don’t taste like anything I should be eating. The bacon wasn’t that great, but the cheese sauce made it taste premium when it was far from premium. I never throw away food, but half of what you see in the pics is in the garbage.
Paying an extra dollar to have your perfectly good McDonald’s Fries ruined is a bummer. The only thing to salvage from this mess is finding untainted fries. It’s a funky blend of dull and sour that did not represent Australia or McDonald’s in a good way unfortunately. Easily the worst item on the Worldwide Favorites menu.
Pros: McDonald's Fries

So, they’ve had something similar here in China as an LTO for the last couple years. This year it’s Cheese and BBQ sauce. Your review definitely mirrors my own thoughts of putting sauce on normal McDonald’s fries.
Actually, every month has some sort of different LTO offering that lasts between a month or two. We’ve had the Angus Bacon and Cheddar burger and the Angus Cheddar Sauce burger since May. Both burgers are phenomenal.
I could go on and on about different LTO products from BK too, but I’ll save that for another day.
I had these fries today and thought they were good! There were a TON of them, and I couldn’t eat them all, and I would have preferred fewer fries for about $1 less than the $3.79 I paid.
It’s also not particularly Australian. I’m Australian and think of loaded fries as being an American thing. Maybe with gravy would be a bit Australian.
Wendy’s got better bacon cheese fries.
My friend had them and said they were great and he’ll usually find something to complain about when he eats anything.
