Sonic Introduces Summertime BLTs and Mocktail Slushes

The Cheetos Sandwich from KFC is grabbing the fast food industry spotlight at the moment, but believe it or not, there are other new products being released.  New to the Sonic menu are Summertime BLTs.  The Summertime BLT has a suggested price of $3.99 and features bacon, Mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and creamy basil aioli on a brioche bun. There’s also the Summertime Chicken BLT for a suggested price of $4.99 which adds a seasoned 100% all-white meat crispy chicken breast.  Available for a limited time only or else they’d have to change the name.Sonic Summertime BLTsAlso new to the Sonic menu are Mocktail Slushes.  There are three flavors available – Strawberry Daiquiri, Pina Colada, and Reaper Spicy Margarita.

  • Strawberry Daiquiri Mocktail – combination of real strawberries and sweet coconut flavor blended into a Sonic Slush
  • Pina Colada – tropical blend of sweet coconut flavor and pineapple flavor blended into a Sonic Slush
  • Reaper Spicy Margarita  – classic margarita flavor infused with one of the world’s hottest chili peppers, the Carolina Reaper, blended into a Sonic Slush

    It wouldn’t make sense to not spend the dollar on the chicken, unless you really don’t like chicken. Thinking the BLT would be better priced at $2.99.

    Over the years and with these peppers getting hotter and hotter, I think it’s time we 50/50 the flavor to heat ratio. There’s pretty much nothing about these trendy gene splices that contribute to good tasting food. If anything, having a plate of Reaper infused nachos, there was no notable difference in flavor had the nachos been the option without. I enjoyed the initial craze, only for most of them to be subject to superficial marketing with less heat than its standard hot-hot counterparts.

    Who knows, maybe the Reaper Spicy Margarita actually does it’s job, but if it doesn’t burn in any way period it just proves that there was no benefit to flavor from the start.

    The strawberry daiquiri was wayyyyy too sweet. Not sure if the pina colada would be the same and be worth it now =\
