Popeyes Chicken Sandwich Returns on Sunday, November 3

On Sunday, November 3 (while Chick-fil-A is closed), Popeyes will be once again offering their Chicken Sandwich (review).  It’s been over two months since supply couldn’t meet demand.  Also, Sunday November 3 we fall back an hour for daylight savings so adjust accordingly.Popeyes Chicken Sandwich November 3

I was told by a Popeyes employee (weeks ago) that it would be back early October. Taking over 2 MONTHS is ridiculous in the extreme, as if a chicken is a rare exotic beast that they had to venture out on safari to locate more……….

    • Robert says:

Popeye’s has suppliers. Demand far outstripped supply. Chickens have to grow before you kill them. Just randomly trying to find another supplier with that many chickens available isn’t an overnight process – and you risk messing with the quality.

It’s been back in many locations for a few weeks already, it will just be fully available nationwide on Sunday. But the demand spiked far beyond what they could have ever projected, and for a new product with 3 new raw materials (buns, pickles, and chicken breasts), for over 3000 restaurants, is not an easy feat.

best and most reasonably priced fried chicken sandwich in the fast food marketplace

  3. Robert says:

The Sunday dig at Chick-fil-a is hilarious. Love it.

  4. Kym says:

I will stick with Roaming Rooster in NE DC.

  5. Shannon says:

So how do you feel about this use of the word y’all?

  6. Jared freeble says:

No mention of price? It was the relatively cheap price point that seemed to captivate people last time. That and it’s limited availability. Almost like it was a planned marketing stunt. Which leads me to think maybe price will be higher this time.

Yes it is big, but it is only mediocre.

    • Johnnyboy says:

You’re mediocre! I guess you have no taste buds.

      • Stevo says:

Yup, they found the breading to be mealy, the chicken to be flavorless. I’ll stick to Wendy’s.

        • Sascha says:

So, who’s “they”? Sounds like you haven’t tried one yet. But props on the effort to find the two people who may have had a problem with the sandwich. The overwhelming opinion seems to be that CFA had at least found their equal, and possibly their superior. Basically, think of the very good KFC Crispy Colonel, only even more juicy and flavorful. Wendy’s is ok for fast food chicken, but not in this conversation.

          • Stevo says:

Sorry, it somehow mistyped. I have found it to be not great, both the regular and the spicy mayo version. CFA chicken is also mediocre. Generally Wendy’s had been the best, but it seems to have slipped a lot.

          • Sascha says:

Wendy’s has good chicken for a fast food burger joint, I’ll grant you that. I’d say they’re 2nd to Arby’s (not a burger joint, but still a mainstream fast food place that doesn’t specifically specialize in chicken) in the fried chicken sandwich category, and 2nd to Hardee’s in grilled. Definitely first in spicy though. I do prefer Checkers/Rallys for spicy, but those aren’t filet sandwiches so I’m not counting them here.
But, Wendy’s is simply not a player when we’re talking CFA, KFC or Popeyes. Plus, I’ve never had an undercooked sandwich from any of those three, or even McDonald’s and BK for that matter, but at Wendy’s it’s a occurrence that happens a bit too often. I think that in the name of speed they sometimes pull their chicken too early. Not a good look.

No thank you Restaurant Brands International I’ll keep eating the white people’s chicken sandwich. Popeyes hires degenerates

    *Surprised Pikachu face*

  10. Drew says:

    $3.99 for the sandwich
    $8.69 for the combo

$4.70 more for an individual side and small drink?

  11. Ryan says:

It was the end of Daylight Saving (adding an “s” is incorrect) Time. We’re back to just normal time. The majority of people get that wrong. Pretty solid sandwich.

  12. FoodForThought says:

Just another example of fast food culture and its utter toxicity.

Go literally anywhere else other than Popeye’s for a chicken sandwich, don’t be a picky five year old.
