Pizza Hut Re-Launches New and Improved Original Pan Pizza

Pizza Hut’s Original Pan Pizza was released back in 1980 and it’s always been a part of the Pizza Hut menu.  There’s nothing wrong with improving upon the original so Pizza Hut has relaunched the new and improved Original Pan Pizza.  Pizza Hut says their updated Original Pan Pizza has an “even crispier golden-brown crust and more flavorful blend of cheese and sauce, offered at an unbeatable price.”For a limited time only, get a Large 2-topping Original Pan Pizza for $7.99 when ordering online.

The updated Original Pan Pizza is baked in a newly engineered pan, which perfects the golden-brown, crispy buttery crust, and is topped with a new blend of cheese and sauce to enhance the flavor and complement the chewy center. The finished product is the result of a lengthy innovation journey Pizza Hut embarked on, focused on combining art, science and culinary expertise to bring the taste of the Original Pan Pizza to the next level.

Wow – with that kind of buildup, it better be REAL good. If they will just use cheese that doesn’t taste utterly synthetic, it will be a big improvement. I actually really like their deep dish pizza, but the fake cheese (and lack of it) has been quite disappointing.

The fake cheese and lack of it…hahaha. It’s that famous Woody Allen bit about how the food is terrible *and* the portions are so small.

I’ve never understood the “PH pan pizza used to be so much better” crowd, but I never had it until maybe 1990 and it might have changed by then? It’s definitely less greasy than I remember, which isn’t saying much, but I still think it’s good.

It’s definitely not the first time they’ve changed it. It was amazing in the 80’s and I think up through the mid 90’s, then nosedived. I’m guessing it was after they were bought by Yum Brands. I might give it a try, but not expecting much.

Define improved. Kind of like epic. When everything is epic, nothing is epic. Having said that, I am pretty certain this will be an “epic” fail!

LOL you may be biased, John 😉

One thing I will say for The Hut is they have the BEST black olives in the business. Love em.
