I recently tried the new Southwest Avocado Chicken Salad. The picture of the salad in the Wendy’s ad looks gorgeous, but the reality left much to be desired. I didn’t even know about the new salad before I arrived at the restaurant, but I was looking at the menu board and on an impulse, I decided to order one. It was not very tasty. In fact, it was sort of bland. The dressing didn’t complement the avocado or the other ingredients. It needed something else. I’m not sure what. Maybe flavor. I’m not even sure that the store put pepper jack cheese in it. Probably not. I would rather have Taco Bell’s Cantina Bowl. It’s cheaper and a whole lot tastier. I was trying to eat healthy (or healthier) that day, but I just ended up totally disappointed. I would not order the Southwest Avocado Chicken Salad again. Maybe the sandwich version is better. Hey, Wendy’s. Bring back your Barbecue Chicken Salad.

I just tried the new southwest avocado chicken salad for the first time, tonight. My favorite is their apple chicken salad, which is just the perfect blend of savory and sweet, so I thought that I’d give this one a try. Loved the croutons, loved the dressing, the chicken was delicious, and the bacon just set everything off. I’m sorry to say, though, that I did not love the guacamole. It left a weird after taste, and just did not blend well with the other flavors. I would much rather they have just added cut up avocado. It has that creamy subtle flavor and would blended much better with the other bolder ingredients. Overall, I give it a 7 out of 10.
