New $5 Flavor Favorites from Popeyes

Popeyes has introduced a new mix and match combo meal called $5 Flavor Favorites to go up against KFC’s $5 Fill Up.  Choose from BONAFIDE® Chicken, Handcrafted Tenders or popcorn shrimp plus a Signature Side, Buttermilk Biscuit and one of eight sauces for $5.  KFC still gets the advantage of having a drink and chocolate chip cookie in their offering.

Yeah the KFC Zinger 5 dollar deal smokes this….adding a soda and a cookie will jump the cost 150% or more.

Apples: meet oranges. Are you aware of what KFC charges vs the Popeye’s deal that you’re actually comparing it to (3 tenders or 2 pcs of chicken combo w/ side + biscuit)?

I feel like one Zinger sandwich can be compared to the 3 strips at Popeyes. It’s probably actually slightly more filling. I have had the $5 Zinger fillup box three times in the past week, so I know from whence I speak. 5 bucks with the sandwich, a side of my choosing, a drink and a cookie. Even got a free lemon cake one of those times when they felt I had to wait too long. So you could argue the biscuit at Popeyes makes up for the cookie at KFC, but what does Popeyes charge for a drink? $1.99 at least I’m sure, so the value is greater at KFC.

It costs $1 to add a drink at Popeye’s

I like the Zinger just fine, but the size of the 3 strips they usually give me at Popeye’s is probably substantially more chicken (thinking of trying to fit 3 strips on that little bun, which the zinger doesn’t completely fill on my two tries). Those Popeye’s biscuits are real good, but that cookie is a nice end to the meal… it’s a toss up for me, glad they aren’t in the same part of town LOL

If it wasn’t obvious form the names, $5 Fill Ups from KFC and $5 Flavor Favorites from Popeye’s are both $5.

The price is not in question, what it includes is….. see this quote from the writeup: “KFC still gets the advantage of having a drink and chocolate chip cookie in their offering.”

Well…that’s game. I’m never going to KFC again.

The 3 tenders combo is $8.99 at ny popeyes so this is a great deal for me.

  4. Scram says:

    I’ll stick with KFC.

Considering what the three-tender combo usually costs, this is a great deal. Plus, I often get the combos to go anyway, and thus sans drink, so the lack of a soda doesn’t bother me. As for the lack of cookie…..I prefer Popeye’s chicken to KFC’s anyway, so this is still a win to me.
