Jack in the Box Adds New Brunchfast Country Scrambler Plate and New Peppermint Desserts

The Brunchfast menu at Jack in the Box has a new member… the Country Scrambler Plate.  The new item features three Jimmy Dean Sausage links, homestyle potatoes, and scrambled eggs mixed with bacon, ham, and cheese.  Nutrition: 850 calories, 57 grams of fat, 19 grams of saturated fat, 415 milligrams of cholesterol, 2940 milligrams of sodium, 38 grams of carbs, 4 grams of fiber, 5 grams of sugar, and 49 grams of protein.In addition to the new Country Scrambler Plate, Jack in the Box has a trio of seasonal peppermint items now available for a limited time.  The Peppermint White Chocolate Shake features real ice cream and premium white chocolate peppermint syrup topped with peppermint bark pieces, a whipped topping and a cherry.  The Peppermint Brownie features a fudge chocolate brownie with peppermint bark pieces baked in and a cream  cheese frosting.  Rounding out the trio is Peppermint Iced Coffee which consists of Jack’s premium roast coffee sweetened with white chocolate peppermint syrup.

    Had this today. Wasn’t bad except for the sausage. The eggs were very flavorful with the cheese, ham and bacon scrambled in. The JD sausage links were clearly the precooked variety, from experience buying them at the grocery store. However they had been sitting too long in a heat drawer and had become tough and dry.

    The “Peppermint Iced Coffee” isn’t so great on its own. I remember one time years ago at a Starbucks I made the mistake of trying to go “low calorie” and tried a Peppermint Iced Latte. As in, coffee (espresso), milk, and peppermint syrup. Not surprisingly, without any mocha, it was basically a “Scope Mouthwash Latte.”
    Jack in the Box’s peppermint syrup is sweeter and less caustic than Starbucks, and brew coffee is less caustic than espresso, so their “Peppermint Iced Coffee” is tolerable. But what I did after I tried it once was, next time, asked for basically a half-and-half, an “Iced Mocha” with peppermint added. It was a *thousand* times better. Quite good. More processed and artificial tasting than a Starbucks Peppermint Mocha of course, but still good. And very pink. Seriously, the peppermint syrup when it pools to the bottom of the cup looks like blood.
    So if the staff at your Jack in the Box can process slightly “custom” requests, a 50/50 mocha/peppermint is quite good for what it is.
