Popeyes Introduces $4 Wicked Good Deal

Popeyes has brought back Wicked Chicken with a little tweaked branding to bring us the $4 Wicked Good Deal.  The Wicked Good Deal features Wicked Chicken which we first saw in 2010 (sadly no mini Tabasco bottle this time).  Wicked Chicken is described in the press release as “juicy all white meat chicken breast, cut into wickedly shaped strips and marinated in authentic Louisiana seasonings, hand-battered, and breaded in Popeyes Southern-style crispy coating and fried up fresh where they twist into the most interesting, wicked shapes.”  Popeyes Wicked Good DealThe $4 promo also comes with a Popeyes Signature Side, a Buttermilk Biscuit and your choice of Signature dipping sauce for $4.  The value is impressive considering this combo was first released over six years ago at just $3.99.

It is not a good deal. The wicked chicken will be enough for my little old chihuahua. I’d rather get a 2 piece white meat special for less or the same price.

Wow that is some SKINNY @ss bird!

Hard to imagine it doesn’t get dried out and tough when they fry it-

    Very. Good. For. The. Price

I’d like to publicly post a big “EFF YOU” to the Schererville, IN Popeye’s which has done the following regarding these LTOs in the past two months:

    1) Me: Yeah, I have a coupon for… Cashier: Oh, we don’t accept any coupons. All the other locations around here do, though, so you can go there!

    2) Me: Yeah, that completes my order…oh, wait, I’ll add one of the cherry cheesecake pies. Cashier: We don’t have those. Me: I’m looking at the sign. Cashier: Yeah, I don’t know who put that up.

    3) Me: I’ll have the Rip’n Chicken (or however you spell it) with mashed potatoes. Cashier: Oh, it comes with fries, but you can upgrade to mashed potatoes for a dollar. Me: The sign says “regular side” not fries. Cashier: Well, I’ll make an exception this once, cuz I like you.

    I’M DONE.

I love it. Some of these fast food places suck. As long as you don’t give them service, they will change or get shut down.

That fries only unless you pay more thing seems to happen a lot. Is it a greedy franchise thing? I don’t blame you for being annoyed. I can’t stand when a customer service issue becomes a, “Oh I’ll make a one time exception for you.” Rather than admit fault they act like they are doing you a favor.

That’s such a good deal! I’d love to get it, but their spicy chicken is just way too spicy for me. :/

  6. M-Logan says:

Seriously? It’s barely spicy at all!

  7. M-Logan says:

Robert – the newish location on Butler Hill (southern St Louis county) has the cherry pies, because I just ate one a couple days ago and it was spectacular. Not really all that far a drive from Indiana LOL 🙂

  8. MP says:

I don’t know why they call this a “deal” without a drink. Especially the spicy chicken, even when I cover these in ranch it’s still too spicy, why don’t they include a drink?

    • Robert says:

What? “Deal” means a good value. “Meal” usually means drink. I hate having to pay for a drink, so I’m glad these deals come this way.

    • doctorx0079 says:

These aren’t the “spicy” version, just Popeye’s regular seasonings. If that’s still too spicy for you try KFC or Church’s.

They only charged $1 extra for a drink, and the chicken wasn’t dry (or spicy). It’s a pretty good deal. I really miss the garlic pepper wicked chicken from a few years back, though. This is bland in comparison, and their standard sauces don’t do a lot for me.
