Papa John’s Brings Back Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza and Introduce New Mushroom Swiss Burger Pizza

Papa John’s has brought back the popular Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza (we reviewed it last year).  Along with the return of the Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza is the introduction of the new Mushroom Swiss Burger Pizza.  The new pizza features real beef, crimini mushrooms, fresh sliced onions, then covered with cheese made from mozzarella and Swiss on hand-tossed crust layered with creamy garlic sauce. Mushroom Swiss Burger Pizza Papa JohnsBoth the Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza and the Mushroom Swiss Burger Pizza are priced at $10 for large through June 26th.

    Didn’t they bring the bacon cheeseburger pizza like twice in the last few years and still bombed? I don’t get it, maybe they should focus on have better pizza with MORE ingredients. I got 2 medium special last week and I swear it was like thin crust, they was no pizza to hold their ingredients.

    I bet the mushroom Swiss Burger will be VERY salty. Anytime a fast food place when they have with Swiss and Mushroom Burger ingredients, it becomes too salty. Unless they used fresh mushrooms and fresh Swiss cheese and not the liquid canned Alfredo sauce.

    Tried the Mushroom Swiss Burger Pizza, the creamy garlic overpowered any taste of the cheese, only the onions were noticeable. Will not be ordering this again.

    I remember years ago Papa John’s had commercials making fun of Pizza Hut and other pizza chains about all of the crazy pizzas those place introduce every month and how they’re different and wouldn’t do that stuff. Man how times have changed. Papa John’s used to be my all time favorite chain pizza place but the quality has dropped significantly. I remember the crust being darker, heartier, and just different than any other pizza. Now it’s light, almost not cooked all the way, and seems like a bland rip off of what the crust once was. Sad

    I finally had this yesterday, I thought it was great, of course the pickles are salty but the pizza was on point with the other ingredients. I actually had 5 slices of it, trust me I never eat 5 slices of pizza or a whole medium like in my high school days. But I wish it had more pieces of bacon. Grade: B

    I had the Mushroom the other day, and it wasn’t bad. Had the cheeseburger version several times during its last run, and would’ve had it more recently but for a superior local pizza place that gets most of my pizzular business.

    I agree with Johnny that normally I can barely eat half of a Papa Johns pie – it’s very filling when you also eat the crust, which I do, due to the garlic dipping sauce. I don’t eat the “bones” of a hand-tossed pizza normally.
