  1. I haven’t had Sofritas yet, but I’ve been tempted… at the same time, I’ve heard Sofritas has given some close friends some awful diarrhea. I’m not sure I want to be miserable on a Monday.

I might try it out anyway…

Is Sofritas finally national? I tried when they were mentioned a year or so ago, but my area never got them. I haven’t seen them on my recent visits either.

I don’t like their Sofritas. I tried it before and it was like some strange, wet ground beef. I’ll stick with chicken and steak.

  4. Ruffy says:

it’s not bad, exactly, but the tiny little tofu nubbins don’t have enough texture to stand up to the other ingredients. i had it once and had no problem finishing it but probably wouldn’t get it again.

While I wouldn’t as far as “diarrhea”, the sofritas definitely, umm…loosened things up? I like the taste but it’s a bit too spicy for me.

I’d assume it’s not selling well and they’re testing whether it’s worth keeoing on the menu and/or expanding availability. Is this national already?

I tried the sofritas a few months ago and I thought the flavor was delicious. Unfortunately, I agree with Ruffy – the texture was very disappointing, since the chunks were way too small. It almost felt like very fine cottage cheese. With bigger tofu chunks (like Moe’s has), this could have worked.

I wonder if they’ll look at me weird if I order half sofritas and half shredded beef in a burrito. (Kinda like my friend who once ordered a bacon cheeseburger but subbed in a veggie burger in place of the beef patty…)
