New BOSS Nachos from Taco Bell

I know most of you are still waiting for the Quesalupa (I’m hearing rumblings of a Super Bowl promo), but until then we can have another entry into the new BOSS family.  In October we saw the introduction of BOSS Wraps (I reviewed the Steak & Potato version) and now we get BOSS Nachos.  There doesn’t seem to be much of a difference between BOSS Nachos and XXL Steak Nachos.  Triple steak versus double steak I guess?  XXL is out and BOSS is in.BOSS NachosNew BOSS Nachos feature a double portion of meat, beans, guacamole, reduced fat sour cream, nacho cheese sauce, pico de gallo and a 3 cheese blend.  The promoted version has a double portion of steak and carries a suggested price of $5.99.  You can it with chicken for $5.79 or seasoned beef for $4.99.  Nutrition info for the advertised steak version:  1130 calories, 57 grams of fat, 10 grams of saturated fat, 1990 milligrams of sodium, 116 grams of carbs, 16 grams of fiber, 6 grams of sugar, 38 grams of protein.

Hmmm… Just went onto their mobile builder, and did the following:

    Nachos Bellgrande
Sub Steak for beef (extra steak)
    Add Pico
    Add Guac
    Add 3 Cheese Blend

Total was $4.94, while they have the BOSS at the suggested retail of $5.99. The beauty of Taco Bell’s online ordering is in the customization without having to annoy the person taking your order with constant changes, but it does take away from the excitement of their “new” items when they come out. Really, the only thing Taco Bell can hype anymore is a new/returning sauce, topping, or tortilla-like vessel.

On that note – Taco Bell, I know you read GrubGrade. We all miss Lava. Again. Don’t turn it into the McRib of your franchise.

Joe, it looks like they give you more chips as the bowl isn’t round like the bellgrande / other nacho plate.

Also, this one supposedly has double steak already. Supposedly.

I have to agree with you on the lava sauce. I always ordered a side of it and it got me into the store, as did the spicy frito burrito and stuft nachos. (Stuft nacho with lava sauce sounds amazing).

I wish they would bring back the Diablo Sauce packets. They were absolutely amazing and made me frequent taco bell like damn near daily while they had em. Shame they only had them for like 3 months though.
