Lava Sauce Returns to Taco Bell with the New Volcano Quesarito

Taco Bell just updated their social media pages with news that Lava Sauce is back starting Thursday, September 24th.  As a welcome back to Lava Sauce, Taco Bell is introducing the new Volcano Quesarito.  The Quesarito is a quesadilla-wrapped burrito and this will be the third Quesarito offering since it was first launched in June of 2014… back in February Taco Bell released the Sriracha version.  If you’re unfamiliar with Lava Sauce, check out my review of the Volcano Box from back in 2009 when it was first released.

Last year we saw the Freeze line of drinks team up with Starburst for the Strawberry Starburst Freeze and beginning tomorrow Taco Bell will be offering the new Starburst Cherry Freeze.

Ahhh man, I think I’ll have to get a volcano taco and volcano burrito for nostalgia’s sake. Maybe I can finally grab some BK chicken fries and have a 2010 anniversary party

Now all the people on here who have been hollering forever for their lava sauce can have it! I’d rather see them bring real sour cream back! Instead of that odd tasting reduced fat junk they have now. Yes I know you can take it home and add your own, which I do. But that’s not nearly as convenient, especially with burritos.

Looks like I am back to stuffing my face with TB on a regular basis! Lava sauce makes everything better.

LAVA SAUCE!!!!!!! Now I have a reason to go back to Taco Bell. Those grillers made me feel sick.

Just had the Volcano Quesarito & crunchy tacos with added lava sauce! Still the same sauce as it was!! Lava sauce was pretty muted on the VQ, tho.

Lava sauce is back, Jesus Christ the people on these boards are going to lose their minds. Ha Ha.

Yes!!! My dreams have come true! Been waiting for the return since they discontinued it 18 months ago! I need to stockpile this haha.

I HAVE NOT BEEN TO TACO BELL SINCE THEY TOOK AWAY THE LAVA SAUCE… NOW I CAN’T WAIT TO HAVE A REASON TO GO BACK!!! ONCE YOU HAVE LAVA ON EVERYTHING YOU CAN’T GO BACK TO EATING IT NORMAL!!!! (WITHOUT LAVA SAUCE)

I’ve long-awaited the return of lava sauce but I cannot help but notice they didn’t roll it out with the grillers. The habanero sauce that everyone said was “similar” was no where near the same taste.

That said, I hope I can try it on a grilled stuft + griller instead of their respective sauces for free.

Pro Tip: Just get sides of taco bell sauce and add it to homemade tacos/burritos. I do this with the chipotle sauce and just did this weekend with the lava sauce and my home made volcano tacos were great. Only 30 cents for a decent size cup of each. The only thing that sucks is that you can’t order sides of sauce on the app that I know of.

Just tried the volcano quesarito as my first experience with lava sauce. Gotta say it seems pretty overrated. The flavor profile of the sauce seems to just be hot and have nothing else going for it. Chipotle sauce beats Lava sauce imo.

Everyone is happy about lava sauce being back, which is great, but I still can’t get over the switch from seasoned rice to this gummy flavorless “cilantro” rice. I want a volcano burrito with seasoned rice, damnit!

Just had one of these and it was awesome. The siracha one was good too, the regular one is awful, but the volcano one is dynamite. The lava sauce blended with the cheese to make a creamy, spicy concoction of goodness. I did notice the volcano menu was gone, but as others said just order it on the side or as an addition to items. I had already been doing this with the habenaro sauce they introduced with triple dare griller things, as that sauce was relatively close to lava sauce.

I would love to get volacno nachos back though. That’s a bit harder to recreate on your own.
