Wendy’s New Smoked Gouda Chicken on Brioche

The latest newcomer to the Wendy’s menu is the Smoked Gouda Chicken on Brioche.  This is the first nationally advertised promo product from Wendy’s to offer Gouda cheese (I think Burger King was the first major fast food chain to offer Gouda).  Back in January we brought you news that select Wendy’s locations were testing a Gouda Bacon Cheeseburger on Brioche.

Smoked Gouda Chicken Brioche Wendy'sThe Smoked Gouda Chicken on Brioche carries a suggested price tag of $4.79 and the sandwich is described like this:

The new Smoked Gouda Chicken on Brioche is packed with flavor, including a thick, creamy Dijon aioli with a tangy mustard finish paired with double-smoked, mild and rich Gouda cheese. The sandwich also features a sweet caramelized onion sauce made from puréed caramelized onions. A warm, lightly breaded chicken breast is topped with sliced red onions and fresh spring mix, served on a toasted brioche bun.

    Had this today. Was delicious.

I also had this today. One of the better Wendy’s LTOs. The sweet onion jam combined with the sharp mustard sauce to basically taste like honey mustard. The cheese kinda got buried under the two sauces, but was still noticeable. The bun was very similar to the pretzel bun in taste and texture, but was less burnt tasting. It was a bit pricy, but I’d get it again.

My friend imessage me last week talking about how he was getting one for lunch. I never heard of it, since there are no wendy’s where i live. He can’t eat too much beef since he has the gout.

Tmi ray tmi!! Maybe if the Wendy’s next to my house was not the worst representation of the brand I’ve ever encountered i would have tried this. Maybe if I find a better location I may have this with the spicy filet

I had this today. Overall it was good, but really, they need to pick a sauce and go with it. Both sauces were good, but together, they were like “why all of this?”

  5. Ted says:

Everything was good in this burger except for the onion sauce. The taste was so bad I couldn’t even finish. Definitely one of the worst sauces I have ever had on a fast food burger, which is strange, since Wendy’s is normally above average.

The onion sauce was goopy and sticky and green. It looked awful. The sandwich tasted alright though.

  7. I had this at the Wendy’s in Port Orange FL and loved every thing about it. the best fast food burger I’ve had in a long time
