Taco Bell Testing Quesadilla Double Dippers with Crushed Flamin’ Hot Fritos Cheese Dip

Taco Bell is testing Quesadilla Double Dippers in Bakersfield, California.  The idea is taking mini quesadillas and providing two dippers… nacho cheese and crushed Flamin’ Hot Fritos. First you dip the quesadilla into the cheese, then dip it into the crushed Fritos.  Priced at $1 during testing.  We’ll keep an eye out for a potential future wide release.

Translation: “Miss the Beefy Crunch Burrito? Trolololol!!!”

You know what those Fritos are needed for… Beefy Crunch Burrito.

This may be the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. Leave the dips inside the tri-cornered pouch. Wither portability if you’re expected to balance and involve two dips. I feel like this is an Onion article.

I award Taco Bell no points, and may God have mercy on its soul.

Yeah I LOVE soggy chips in my food. I actually give them points for this. Putting chips inside something with sauces, nacho cheese & sour cream never made any damned sense.

Isn’t this just the Grilled Stuft Nacho renamed with dipping sauces? Looks pretty similar to me and from what I recall, it didn’t do that well. I find it hard to believe adding some cheese and doritos would make it any better. Why not just put the doritos inside (unless they want them to get soggy from all the wet ingredients).

…No. GSN didn’t have Fritos, and it also had that “new” sauce that was basically their queso mixed with Volcano Sauce.

I know the GSN didn’t have Fritos, but otherwise looked pretty much the same. Maybe the ingredients are a bit different, but certainly reminded me of the GSN with the addition of dipping sauces.

Sometimes I feel like these fast food companies are trolling us and not even trying anymore.

Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughtful comment! It sounds to me like they’re trying though… after finding customers loved the concept of putting the Fritos into some of their offerings, but some didn’t like how the chips would get soggy, they came up with a solution. Their nacho cheese sauce is obviously very popular, Taco Bell would not be successful if their cheese sauce sucked. I think the idea for this simple novelty is a great value for $1 because you don’t just stuff the whole thing in your face with 3 bites, it prolongs the experience, and combines popular elements in an improved way. Plus, they did recently take huge risks with completely new concepts like the fresh Cantina menu and their breakfast offerings, all while retaining cheap fast food economies of scale price points. Not trying? I say Taco Bell has done some great things these last couple years. Even with $1 options like this and those potato/bacon/cheese grillers… mmm.

I like this idea, but then, I like the interactivity of dipping stuff. Wouldn’t be bad idea to add the cheese-Fritos combo as a permanent side item – quite a lot of TB’s items are already dippable.

PLEASE let these come to Fredericksburg, Virginia.
