Taco Bell Features Rolled Chicken Tacos in Test Market

New at Taco Bell in test market Toledo, Ohio are new Rolled Chicken Tacos made with shredded chicken.  This test item was spotted by GrubGrade reader Josh and he tells me they come in a 2 or 4 pack.

Taco Bell Rolled Chicken TacosThe 4 pack is priced at $3.99 and comes with two dipping sauces.  Your dipping choices are Spicy Ranch, Salsa, Guacamole, Nacho Cheese Sauce, and reduced fat sour cream.

Rolled Chicken TacosYou might remember earlier last year I spotted a test product called Crispy Taquito Dippers in Columbus, Ohio and they look pretty identical to these “new” Rolled Chicken Tacos.  So maybe this product is just going through a new wave of test market promotion with a different name.  At any rate, these Rolled Chicken Tacos or Crispy Taquito Dippers still haven’t made a wider national release.  All I know for sure is that the new Spicy Ranch dip can’t come soon enough… it’s awesome.

Are they still ruining their chicken with that awful citris marinade? I would try one if not for that

    • Crysta says:

The shredded chicken has a different “spicy” marinade on it. Not particularly spicy, but it’s similar to the chicken they had before they came up with the grilled citrus stuff.

  2. Justin ST says:

They have these at my local gas station. Not impressed.

  3. Alex K. says:

    Taco Bell’s a joke, let’s be real.

First they go with their XXL line and run with it until it’s driven into the ground (XXL Quesadilla, taco, burrito, nachos, etc.), and now they’re putting this shredded chicken into everything for a “limited time.” Smothered burrito, taco, “rolled” taco, and then what? Shredded chicken nachos, presumably?

It’s just frustrating. How nice that they continue to refuse to bring back the beefy crunch.

    • Scrape says:

Really? The Nacho Dorito Loco is great, and the smothered shredded chicken burrito is utterly fantastic. It’s better than a number of much more expensive fast casual Mexican grub, and even better than some mom and pop burrito palaces. And it is cheap in comparison.

    • Robert says:

The XXL taco, smothered burrito, and yes, the beefy crunch burrito are the best TB creations in years, probably since the Club Chalupa days. They’re also all very different from one another, so I don’t get your point.

I agree with you to an extent, but it really depends on what your favorite Taco Bell item is. For me it’s Chalupas, by far. They can mess around with all this other stuff and I’ll try it here and there, but I’m lucky that the stuff I like has stayed on the menu forever.

  4. Jonathan Wayne says:

Isn’t this the same stuff that every gas station has been carrying for years now? Come on Taco Bell.

  5. Sascha says:

Well, I am a sucker for a good spicy ranch sauce. Love the Baja sauce at Long John’s and the Southwest at Buffalo Wild Wings, for example. Maybe these crispy shells will hold up to the marinated chicken better than the DLT’s did for you, Ryan.

Yay new test item! Looks like it’s time for another trip to the Bell.

I tried the rolled chicken tacos and I am definately not a fan. I was a fan of the rolled beef tacos. Any chance they will be on the menu as a regular item?
