Cool. Sounds like the old Taco BelGrande, alhough they didn’t have the steak of chicken option then. They should’ve brought back the old name instead of the awkward XXL designation.

  2. Klee says:

Those might be the best looking tacos that Taco Bell has produced, aside from promotional one. They didn’t skimp on the meat at all, the cheese…well they always skimp on the cheese. Seriously I could count the strands of cheese on most of my tacos.

  3. Roger C. says:

    What a ripoff.

  4. Robert says:

Argh, I wish they still had that lime-y white sauce for the steak. $2.99 doesn’t sound terrible, but $2.49 for the ground beef variant is a screw.

  5. Ed H says:

That meat looks like dog food.

  6. Jason says:

So does this mean that we will see XXL doritos locos tacos soon?

  7. Kevin says:

    Wow. Looks good.

  8. CB says:

The creative juices keep flowing at taco bell!

  9. skh.pcola says:

There has never been a Taco Bell taco passed over the counter to a paying customer that has that much meat in it. Ever. I quit going there years ago because the disparity betwixt the advertised product and what you actually pay (a lot) for borders on fraud.

Taco Bell, a company that has simply run out of ideas.

    • MP says:

I think they should think inside the bun & go with a torta. But it has to be with good bread.
Or at least come up with some cheaper or different Mexican pizza ideas. Or some wheat tortillas.

    • Bubbsy says:

Have you counted the variations on Americanized pseudo-Mex fare: variations on a taco (chalupa, gordita, etc), a burrito, nachos, different platforms of tortillas, different proteins, cheeses, sauces, etc?
Let me ask you this: considering the people cooking, preparing, and serving your food are 17 yr old potheads, failed nail technicians, and aspiring rappers…. do you really want the food to be anything other than hyper-sanitary highly-processed over-cooked squirt-and-scoop offerings?
Do you really want those workers slicing and seasoning raw pork & chicken before grilling it on an open flame? Washing and cutting fresh produce, etc.? These are people that can’t hold a job anywhere longer than 2 months before getting fired or walking out.
Turn on the food warming tubs… then: scoop, squirt, fold, serve… that’s all I trust them to do, and it’s hard to do even that.

    $2.99 for one taco!?

  12. Jeff in Middletucky says:

Per this commenter over on the Roadfood forums (who claims to be a Taco Bell manager), the shells will be fried in store.

  13. CaptBackslap says:

Three bucks is a lot for one Taco Bell taco, even if you do get twice the dog food charred with a blowtorch “steak.”

  14. CC says:

So you pay 3x as much for twice the taco? :I

  15. Justin ST says:

They do realize, that for a few dollars more, you can get three, better quality steak tacos from Chipotle or Qdoba? Taco Bell needs to be realistic about their prices and stop letting the business school hacks from Yum Brands keep jacking their prices up without any good reason.
