New Montreal Angus and Portabella Sandwich from Arby’s

For a limited time only, participating Arby’s locations are celebrating steak.  The Angus Philly and Angus Three Cheese & Bacon sandwiches are back… and the newcomer to the bunch is the Montreal Angus and Portabella.  590 calories, 28 grams of fat, 2070 milligrams of sodium, 38 grams of protein

Melted Vermont cheddar over layered Angus steak, topped with caramelized onions, portabella mushrooms and garlic aioli sauce on a toasted sub. Very good steak on very good sandwich.​

    The Philly and the 3 Cheese and Bacon never left the menu, at least not here in Michigan. The 3 Cheese and Bacon is my go-to Arby’s sandwich, and this new one sounds excellent as well, hoping it becomes a permanent addition. Just wish they’d kick the Happy Hour sandwiches to the curb and bring back the Mighty Mini’s, and especially the Au Jus Mayo.

    What the heck does that have to do with Montreal? Yes, I guess the Vermont Cheddar comes from only a few hours away, but I have a hard time accepting a Montreal beef sandwich that doesn’t have Montreal Smoked Meat (or at least Montreal steak seasoning).

    Sounds like it would be rather tasty once the mushrooms and fake fast food aioli are ditched(don’t trust any white sauces from chains, as they’re almost always made with disgusting mayo which has no business being in the vicinity of beef in any form). Thing is, when I crave Arby’s, I am only doing so for either their French Dip, or one of their original frankenbeef sandwiches with Arby’s sauce.

      Obviously, some have a mayo preference, and some don’t, but to me this is an asinine statement. There is no better beef flavor enhancer (at least where fast food beef is concerned) than a good mayo.

        I think it depends, but Arby’s isn’t using crazy awesome beef or anything, so there’s no need to be snooty. I’d never put mayo on an Italian beef, but there was some kinda mayo-y sauce on the Angus Cool Deli, and it was DELICIOUS. I’m not big on mushrooms, so I’m not gonna go out of my way for this one, but the other Angus sandwiches are winners. I wish they were promoted more.

    I don’t have the Montreal in my area(Minnesota). We have a different sandwich called the ‘Chef’s Choice.’ It’s got bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, horseradish sauce, pickles, and brisket? on a round bun

    Well, as soon as you open the box to the sandwich, all mystery is gone. This is definitely called Montreal thanks to the steak seasoning on it, as it immediately permeates the nose. But, as a fan of the seasoning, I’m fine with that. This is a good sandwich that slides just ahead of the Philly, but doesn’t come close to the Three Cheese and Bacon. The main problem here is the mushrooms, they’re just not adding flavor. I love mushrooms, especially Portobellas, but these are not adding anything to the sandwich. The beef is good, the onions are there, decent sauce but could use more, and good bread, just missing a good mushroom. It gets a 5.75/10 from me.
