Wendy’s Bacon Portabella Melt Returns November 11th with New Brioche Bun

2013 has been a year full of bread variety at Wendy’s.  In March Wendy’s introduced their multi-grain flatbread.  The trendy pretzel bun took over after that with the Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger and more recently the Pretzel Pub Chicken Sandwich.  Starting November 11th, Wendy’s will reintroduce the Bacon Portabella Melt with a new brioche bun.

Bacon Portabella Melt on Brioche The Bacon Portabella Melt features a 1/4 lb. beef patty with sauteed portabella mushrooms in cheddar cheese sauce, Applewood smoked bacon, two slices of American cheese and a French-style brioche bun made with real eggs and butter and toasted to order.  It’s available for a limited time — until late December.  Recommended price is $4.79 (prices will vary by market).

    Never tried this but it does look good. I believe my last comment on this site was about Wendy’s and how my food is always cold and just doesn’t taste all that good, so my guess is I’d get stuck with a patty that’s been sitting around since the previous Tuesday if I ordered this sandwich. But, like I said, it does look and the brioche bun certainly will be a hit with many. Ever since Wendy’s switched to the Dave’s Hot and Juicy burger (that name is just wrong) the food isn’t as good in my opinion although I know of others who like it much more. Not sure what else, if anything, was changed at that time but I used to be a much bigger fan of the restaurant. Perhaps I’ve just grown up and have different tastes, but I always think the burgers taste funny- that is if I get one which is actually hot and freshly made. I’ll look for a review on this if one hasn’t been done already, and I’ll think about giving it a shot.

    This looks totally fabulous! I hope this is coming to Canada, too, because I really want to try it. I wonder if it comes with pickles? Beef + bacon + cheese + mushrooms + pickles = Mmmm. Very excited for this one!

    I don’t get to Wendy’s often, but I did have it the other day and I have to say it was really, really good. I got the single patty and it was more than enough. The cheese sauce was a little drippy, but the bread was nice and soft. I think I would have liked a little more mushroom but otherwise it was pretty great overall.

    Why not compete with Jack n Box munchy deal? Take this burger and add fries,
    med. drink, and onion rings for $6.00.

    I’m not touching this until someone explains what a “portabella” mushroom is. I’d love to believe that it’s a portobello but I never assume when it comes to what fast food franchises pass as food. Seems too similar to cheese food product or bold meat flavor.
