Spotted: McDonald’s Jalapeño Kicker Chicken Sandwich

Spotted at a McDonald’s in Fulton, Maryland by @wikimapper on Twitter… the Jalapeño Kicker Chicken Sandwich.  So the Habanero Ranch isn’t the only thing providing a spicy kick at McDonald’s as this sandwich looks packed with jalapeños.

Jalapeno Kicker Chicken Sandwich McDonaldsLettuce, tomato, crispy battered onion pieces, white cheddar and mayo round out the ingredients of this premium chicken sandwich.  There are also breakfast items which feature jalapeños like an Egg McMuffin or Egg White Delight with added jalapeños.

    I must try this.

that’s some sad looking lettuce, I know this won’t be hot, so I won’t even bother.

I tried Jacks Blazin’ chicken sandwich ($4.19 sandwich only/5.99 combo) Saturday, even though the tv commercial clearly states it has jalapenos, they hit you with a .40 cent upcharge for them, making it (4.59/6.39). sad to say the “ghost pepper ranch” is totally weak, Mc’d’s habanero has more heat to it.

McDonald’s desperately needs reconsider their offerings. Their stock is only up 7% compared to S&P 500 of 22% YTD.

    • Robert says:

Uh, comparing McD to the S&P average isn’t exactly a fair economic comparison. Compare McD stock to other companies in the industry. McD is doing fine. And I wish they wouldn’t, because I’m still pissed about the Angus burgers being replaced by vastly inferior replicas, but they are.

Anyway, this is an odd mix of toppings. Jalapenos and fried onion straws seem too specific/complex for McDonald’s mission. I bet it’s pretty damn tasty on a chicken sandwich, though.

Those Angus burgers I can still taste in my memory. All varieties were outstanding and hit the spot. They really had me coming through the door. What an unfortunate decision to discontinue.

Right up my alley! I’ll forever be waiting for the Firecracker chicken sandwich at Burger King in the meantime…

I am not too picky about fast food (as in, I won’t refuse to eat a lot of stuff) but McDonald’s has the worst “premium” chicken of any of the major chains in my opinion. McDonald’s chicken sandwiches are about the only chicken sandwiches that I NEVER purchase. Judging by that picture, the lettuce is boring, the cheese is “okay” but bland with a bland chicken patty, and the jalapenos just make it spicy. The mayo probably helps with the heat but it’s just overwhelming most of the time. I have little faith in this sandwich.

On the flip side, the McChicken is simply amazing, mildly spicy, and cheap! I would eat these things all the time if it weren’t for my McDouble with extra onions. Why can’t McDonald’s just come out with a BETTER premium chicken. They used to be better years ago before they changed.

    • Alex K. says:

Saying you would prefer a Spongy Chicken Sandwich over a solid slice of chicken meat makes your opinion sort of void. Yes, that’s possible.

      • cs says:

My point was that I think McDonald’s premium chicken sandwich is so bland to me that I would PREFER the overly-processed chicken patty because it tastes THAT much better. I know it sounds unrealistic, but I believe that McDonald’s chicken breast fillet is at the bottom of the food chain (pun intended).

  6. FA says:

Jalapenos are never mild. I’m staying far away from this one!

    • Robert says:

Sure they are! There’s an enormous range between jalapenos. The ones on the Fuddruckers bar, for example, don’t even register for me. They’re tangy. Always try a pepper!

      • ChaCha says:

If they’re pickled, the heat level can be manipulated for consistent product. I’m sure McDonald’s wouldn’t attempt to market something where someone might have the taste buds singed out of their mouth. Their specialty is avoiding lawsuits, not hoping to avoid them.

    • Joe Cool says:

Japs come in all different ranges. Most are mild anyway.

  7. Wonder says:

We serve these where I work. Just finished a Grilled Chicken, actually.

IMHO, best thing on the menu.

  8. Bethany says:

Not a fan of MCD’s chicken but jalepenos for breakfast…that’s exciting!

  9. Kevin says:

Damn, this looks good as hell.

  10. Mz.Treecie says:

Just had my first grilled jalapeno/chicken sandwich. The peppers were very hot. My Mouth and tongue are burning and I Cant drink enough water! But it was a good sandwich. Cant wait to try the jalapeno egg mcmuffin
