Spotted: Crispy Taquito Dippers from Taco Bell

Taco Bell is testing Taquito Dippers in the Columbus, Ohio market.  The only available choice of taquito is with shredded chicken, but there are five options of dip, including a tasty new Spicy Ranch dip.  The other dip choices are Salsa, Premium Guacamole, Nacho Cheese Sauce and Reduced Fat Sour Cream.  The price is a way too high in my opinion, 2 for $1.99 with 1 dip or 4 for $3.79 with 2 dips.  Still just a test market item, so let’s see if these catch on in Columbus.Taquito Dippers Taco Bell Taquito Dippers

C’mon Taco Bell, that’s gas station food! I can’t imagine these are any better than the ones you get at QuikTrip of 7-11.

You can go to Wal Mart and buy a box of them for the same price for 4 of these and they probably taste pretty much the same. I will pass way to much money for what you get. I have also made them at home. Cheap and easy to make.

I wish they had some better dipping sauces, as that is what these things really are…like a McNugget, a vehicle for dipping sauces. I LOVE the floutas at Chevy’s, which are a similar type of product, and their chipotle aioli and jalapeno jelly. I buy the freezer variety of taquitos at Aldi and make my own aioli with hot sauces and cumen, and buy the jalapeno jelly from my local Amish market. Freakin’ yum.
TB make a spicy pepper based dipping sauce (the spicy ranch aint gonna cut it) or coat these with the molten lava sauce from the lava taco, or my favorite, the pepper jack sauce which can be found in the crispy potato soft taco.

Even if these don’t make the cut, I hope the new ranch goes nationwide. I want to try it.

I’ve had these a few times – I had no idea they were a test item, as I’ve even seen commercials on tv for them. They are really good, surprisingly. Very crispy, and the spicy ranch dip is a good complimentary flavor.

I tried them a few weeks ago. I had them with nacho cheese, and they were okay. In my opinion, not worth the money. They taste just like the frozen ones you can buy in the grocery store for way cheaper and make at home in your oven.

I agree, totally over priced. Does anyone else laugh when you see TB and reduced fat sour cream in the same sentence? Or, maybe I’m just easily amused.

Needs to be a dollar cheaper and then I’d totally be down.
