Spicy Chipotle Sandwiches from Wendy’s

Spotted by GrubGrade reader Robert in the Chicago suburb of Munster, Indiana… Spicy Chipotle Sandwiches from Wendy’s.  The duo includes the Spicy Chipotle Jr. Cheeseburger and the Spicy Chipotle Crispy Chicken Sandwich.  Priced at 99 cents, it looks like a combination of pepper jack cheese, jalapeños and chipotle sauce are the main players here.

I’d give the burger a try, for a buck

Absolutely.. the only thing I don’t like about their regular value chicken sandwich is the bun seems too sweet.. this would seem to help fix that problem.

Hmm. Well this is definitely out of the blue, that’s for sure. I’ll try both.

Ever since Dave’s Hot N’ Juicy burger came out (I can’t for the life of me get over how awful that names sounds), the quality of Wendy’s seems to have gone hill in my opinion. I worked there as a teenager and remember things always being fresh and cooked to order; however, the few visits I’ve made over the past few years always result in disappointment. Cold food, messed up orders and whatever they did to the burgers just tastes weird to me. I know others love Wendy’s but I can’t bring myself to like it any longer. These sandwiches look good, but I know if I ordered one it would end up looking like it had sat around for the past month. Hopefully others have better experiences!

Most of the time when I go to Wendy’s, I hit the drive thru at lunchtime. I’m honestly shocked at how quickly my order is given to me. Actually TOO quickly. By the time I’m back at my destination after a short drive, the food is cold and dry & it needs to be microwaved. I can’t even remember the last time I actually had a hot juicy burger.

I agree completely. That was the downfall of Wendy’s quality. The Jr. Bacon cheeseburgers for $1 with half the beef as the “hot ‘n juicy” version was the best..it was basically a fresh BLT with a slice of beef. I went there for that, not for “more beef” bs. It’s so much worse now than it used to be. More expensive and less care. 🙁

I tried Dave’s Hot N Juicy twice within a few weeks of release at two different nearby Wendy’s due to coupons they had out in promotion and both times the cheese was unmelted and the burger room temperature. That’s pretty ridiculous and unacceptable when trying to market a new product.

It’s gone “down hill”- not just “hill.” Sorry for my poor typing today.

So I just tried the spicy chipotle chicken sandwich and I have to say I do like the heat in it from jalapeños to the chipotle sauce. The chicken is not the greatest though. McDonald’s McChicken sandwich still beats it in my opinion but I do like the spicy chipotle flavor in Wendy’s!

McDonald’s chicken is pretty damn good, probably the best out there. I have it in wraps and sandwiches, grilled only. So I’m going to stick with the burger here. Hopefully I can actually find the 99 cent deal in NYC!
