New Premium Chicken McWraps from McDonald’s

Coming soon to your local McDonald’s… new Premium Chicken McWraps.  Maybe your town has them already since I’ve read reports of March 14, March 22 and March 29… well sometime this month they’ll go nationwide I’m sure.  You’ve got three choices: Chicken & Bacon, Sweet Chili Chicken, Chicken & Ranch.  Last year we brought you news of the McWrap when it was testing in Chicago.   These make a lot more sense than the Big Mac Snack Wrap or the Angus Snack Wraps.  Have the new Premium Chicken McWraps hit your local McDonald’s yet?McWrapI went to one of my local McDonald’s restaurants here in Maryland today to see if maybe the new McWraps were available.  Well I took a picture of the drive-thru sign to prove they were being advertised (see below), but they ended up giving me 3 Snackwraps instead of 3 McWraps.  Before getting my order, I questioned the price with the cashier since the McWraps were $3.99 each and my total for 3 was way short of $12.  The cashier sounded confused when I mentioned the price issue.  There was really no shock to see that my order was screwed up.  It happens… fool me once, shame on you, fool me 37 times, shame on me.  I’ll make a second attempt this weekend and make sure I get the right order.  McDonalds McWrap

McDonald’s employees are usually idiots. Definitely bottom of the barrel types, and many don’t last long. Taco Bell employees are usually surprisingly excellent. I see little turnover at my local store.

I’ve encountered plenty of friendly McDonald’s employees. It depends on the McDonald’s and, I hate to say it, the part of the country they are located.

I have two friends, both who are managers at two different McDonald’s in the Upper Midwest in rural areas. This would have not happened there.

That being said, I’ve stated before on GrubGrade that the only McD’s food that I’ll ever get are the fries, the dollar menu, and the Shamrock Shake. 🙂

One of my local McDonalds (which I eat at entirely too often) had a 2-3 year run of excellent friendly service at the window. This is exceedingly rare in the fast food industry. They ACTUALLY seemed pleased to see me (this was entirely drive-thru related). I wanted to stop and ask for the manager but I am always there at lunch time and they are super busy…so I emailed the manager instead (listed on a sign outside the drivethru window). I never got a response. I found that sort of disappointing.

For about $4 each, I hope these are satisfying .

I have a feeling these aren’t going to do well because of the price.

When people think wraps they think cheap. They don’t think “premium” $4.

This could turn around and hurt McDs. If they want high margin food, bring back the Angus burgers. I saw a LOT of people buying those.

Interesting. I’m the only person I know that likes the mcwraps as the food of choice from McDonalds. The sweet chili chicken sounds the most intriguing to me..

I had a McDonald’s Sweet Chili Chicken sandwich in the UK. It was pretty terrible. That also had a lot of mayo on it though. I’ve put sweet chili on my wraps at lunch by myself and they’re just not good. Maybe the McWrap did a great job with it, who knows?

      • Rusty Shackleford says:

Hm.. Don’t think that sandwich is in the US, but I was sort of hoping it would taste similar to the sweet chili flavor Doritos. But now that you mention it, I remember that mcdonalds has sweet chili as one of their new sauces, which I wasn’t huge about.. ow, my precious hopes and dreams.

These are so good! my favorite is the chicken & ranch. i love the idea of cucumbers at mcds. and the new rice vinegar sauce on the wrap is so good!

  5. Alex says:

They have them available in England, they’re not worth the extra price, so I always stick to the smaller wraps that are available.

omg that sweet chilli sounds great! i love that sweet chili has become a new flavor in the food world! now if only potato chips had that flavor!
    again i love ur site!!!

$3.99 is way too much for a wrap. These will definitely bomb, people balked at the extra value menu and that was items up to $2. Calorie wise 1 to 2 mcdouble’s meets or exceeds what you get with this for less than half the price.

  8. M86 says:

$3.99 for a wrap that is basically using ingredients already available at McDonald’s (except for the larger tortilla). Keep in mind, their ingredients generally suck.

  9. Chris says:

The sweet chilli one is sooo good, it has like 4 chicken strips in it, and it’s pretty wide. It comes with cucumbers and lettuce, I got no cucumbers on mine. It’s not that long though, it’s still pretty much the same length as the other wrap.. maybe some centimeters longer but thats it.

McDonald’s needs to focus on making their food fresher.

I ordered Chicken & Bacon, and got the Ranch one instead. So McDonald’s employees are bunch of idiots.

With that being said, I’m not totally impressed with the McWrap. The amount of chicken inside, I would say less than 2 pieces of Chicken Selects. No wonder why they ditched Chicken Selects, the profit margin on this thing is huge compared to Selects.

My lunch was McWrap and a Grilled Onion Cheddar burger + 12oz Coke. I did not feel full after the meal, this is definitely not going to be my favorite.

I had a Wendy’s wrap with my lunch today – half a spicy breast chicken filet (which is like the same size in mass of a crispy chicken .99 cent sandwich processed pattie) with lettuce, ranch dressing & shredded cheddar cheese (which had no flavor) for $1.59. I doubt the McD’s version will come close to topping that value or taste. Tho I wonder what they do with the other half of the spicy filet they don’t sell.

I just ordered 2 of the premium chicken wraps with a buy one/get one coupon promotion. The chicken-bacon wrap contained absolutely NO bacon and was very bland, mayonnais-ey, and wouldn’t hold together for all the hot, slippery lettuce in it. Definitely NOT a good food experience. I tried the chili-chicken Asian wrap. Again with too much dressing but this time very unpleasantly spicy. Also had the slimy lettuce thing going on-blech! I really feel that these wraps are nothing new, nothing special and certainly overpriced.
