I used to love these in college. These days I’d probably need a couple tums to enjoy them comfortably, but I’m definitely gonna get one for nostalgia is nothing else. First I heard about this 🙂

  2. BigBelly says:

don’t know why, but these never tasted as good as the regular ones to me

Two tacos for 99 cents… or one larger taco for $1.29? Hmmmmmmm… let’s see here… I’ll take more tacos for the cheaper price. I’m pretty sure having two normal tacos = more taco than the monster.

    • Wil says:

You’re correct. The monster taco weighs in at just under 4oz, whereas each regular taco weighs a little over 2.5oz.

    • TJ says:

I could be wrong, but I thought they used to also be 99 cents many years ago. Maybe it varied by franchise. I’m not surprised they’re raising the price a little, I’m impressed Jack has kept their regular tacos so cheap for so long. Agree though 2 tacos is a better deal regardless. I’ll probably get one anyway once for the novelty of it.

Haven’t had JIB tacos in a few years. I heard the quality went down, and that they are now frozen pre-made vs. freshly wrapped and fried. Is that true? Or are the tacos as good as ever?

    • Jay J says:

Wow they actually freshly made these at some point? Is this like 10+ years ago? Everytime I have seen them made in the past few years I have observed them deep frying the already frozen shells with meat inside. They then add lettuce, hotsauce, and cheese manually.

I’m sorry, this just can’t compete with the Doritos Locos tacos.

I saw just enough words in the headline to make me think Taco Bell was bringing back the Black Jack Taco

This makes me so happy you dont understand. Thank you fast food gods!

  8. Shana says:

I don’t know why but these always tastes WAY better than the small ones!

American cheese on a taco strikes me as a bit strange. I don’t live in a market with Jack-In-The-Box so I can’t judge the product, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a taco that didn’t have either nacho or shredded cheddar or jack cheese on it. Maybe it is good? Someone else would have to fill me in on that. The price differential between the regular taco and this monster taco does seem odd- I agree with those who have already stated that.

    • Raiders757 says:

Can’t speak for the JIB version, but shredded White American Cheese is great on a taco. It’s also one of the better cheeses to use when making homemade queso blanco to dip chips in when a more authentic cheese isn’t available.

    • BigBelly says:

the cheese just works… these are very reminiscent of tacos you buy in the freezer case, except the meat/bean mash is a little better.

I can still remember the first time I had one, I thought it was kinda gross, but they grow on you, LOL. I think it’s the combo of the soft part where the filling is, and the crispy outer edge, that adds something

I used to get these all of the time but I can’t quite recall why I got them over the normal tacos. I remember there was a combo deal that had a decent price for these so maybe that’s why.

I tried 2 the other night and they didn’t seem to be cooked enough. The middle was very luke warm. I prefer the 2 smaller tacos. If you are really a fan of the meat in these tacos then the monster is the way to go. It had quite a bit

  11. Lucy says:

I got one of these last night and the franchise I went to sold them for 99 cents. I also got 2 regular tacos for comparison. I actually enjoyed the monster taco more because it felt like I was getting more meat per bite.
