Half Price Cheeseburgers at Sonic on Thursday, August 15th

This coming Thursday, August 15th, Sonic will be celebrating “Back to School” with 1/2 price cheeseburgers all day.  The Sonic Cheeseburger is described like this… “What you see is what you get. Melty American cheese, crinkle-cut pickles, chopped onions, fresh shredded lettuce & ripe tomatoes on a perfectly seasoned, 100% pure beef patty with your choice of mustard, mayo or ketchup. Straightforward and tasty, just the way it should be.”

I have never understood their ketchup, mustard, mayo thing. Do you really have to specify? And are you limited to just one of those? What if I want ketchup AND mustard on my hamburger?

I agree that this is a strange way of approaching burger condiments. I remember going to Sonic as a kid and the ketchup/mustard/mayo thing confusing the crap out of my best friend’s dad. I remember him being completely baffled by it, and although I wouldn’t exactly call it confusing it certainly is strange. One a separate note, the tots are the only thing worth eating at this place in my opinion. BTW, great name! 🙂

I haven’t eaten at Sonic in awhile. I think the last time was when they had (maybe they still do) introduced their premium asiago chicken sandwiches. Never ordered a plain cheeseburger (there or anywhere else) so also find it odd about the “choice” of the condiments. I wonder if they ask, or if you don’t specify do they just all throw all 3 on them.

I remember the first time I traveled (to Atlanta) stopping in a BK and their burgers has Mustard on them. Always was Ketchup back where I lived (NY). Which is funny, because now I prefer Mustard over Ketchup on burgers. Spicy Mustard, that is.

I used to like their toasters, but the last 2 times I got them, they were soggy as hell and falling apart. They used to be nice and crispy. Now when I want something like that, I’ll grill a burger on home and put it between some toasted Texas Toast.

Are you people really that confused by condiments? I know that Sonic bashing is a thing around these parts, one of which I tend to agree with yet don’t take part in, but seriously? “And what would you like on that? Mustard, ketchup, mayo?” is the Million Dollar Question with you guys and your friends’ fathers?

LOL, I don’t recall saying I was confused… I said someone else was confused. Personally, I think it is strange how they do it but certainly not confusing. And, trust me, I have far more things to worry about in my life than Sonic’s approach to condiments. I thought the story I told was kind of funny and on topic- apparently you didn’t. Each to his/her own!

Agreed. Sometimes I don’t want all that crap on my burger. Burger King for example, seems to have the most bitter ketchup & mustard that I always ended up scraping off. Some people hate mayo. Sometimes I want ketchup + mayo or mustard + mayo, or none at all. One size does not fit all.
As for my Sonic experiences, their burgers have always been hot & very moist. I would definitely put them one step ahead of McDonald’s/BK/Wendy’s. Speaking of the latter, it seems like Wendy’s doesn’t taste like Wendy’s anymore.

Wait, my Sonic has half price burgers every Tuesday. Is that not a nationwide thing? I can’t imagine anyone paying full price for these things. Compared to a Wendy’s single, Sonic singles are garbage.
