Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s Introduce Fresh Baked Buns

Since mid-October, Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s have been rolling out new Fresh Baked Buns to their premium burgers.  All participating Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s restaurants will be serving Fresh Baked Buns by November 14th. Fresh Baked Buns are standard with premium burgers but will be available for substitution on any other burger or sandwich offering for an additional charge.

The raw bun dough is given time to rise or “proof” and is then baked, cooled, sliced and served. These are no ordinary hamburger buns in many other ways. Consumers will notice the buns are denser, a little sweeter (bringing out the flavor of the charbroiled 100 percent Black Angus beef patties) and, of course, baked fresh, then grilled so that each one is served perfectly hot, soft and delicious.

Had one today. I thought it went better with their simple 1/3 pound cheeseburger then with the loaded regular thick burger but either way it was a winner in my book.

I always liked CJ’s 6$ burgers. Probably the best FF burger out there (Wendy’s does come a close second).

I think I’ll try one to see how the buns are, but to be honest, never really thought their buns were good or bad prior – they were buns and the burger always tasted good. So I am sure this will be good.

CJ’s is one place I wish would jump on the pretzel bun bandwagon. a 6$ burger with a pretzel bun I think would taste great. Here’s to hoping…

I have been lucky enough to have had our local Hardee’s serving these gems for over a month now…I have sampled them several(or 5) times and I cannot believe how good they are…I am not sure there is a better fast food burger available at their prices.

hmmm, this could be interesting, I always thought the honey wheat bun the charbroiled Santa Fe chicken sandwich comes on, is one of the best buns out there. Wonder if they will offer different kinds eventually, ala Smashburger

I like these buns better than the pretzel buns from Wendy’s.

These are soft and have the perfect texture. I normally don’t go to Hardee’s but I’ll be back much more often now.

My local Carl’s has been testing these for many months now. They are by far the best fast food burger bun out there. They really hit it right with this one. The buns taste fresh and are nicely toasted, not overly sweet or bready.

This reminds me of the fresh baked buns at Fuddrucker’s. We lost all of our local Fudd’s so this will be good since we have so many Hardee’s in southeast Virginia.

I thought the old buns were fine! But I trust Hardee’s to not go out of their way to make food worse, because they’re not Burger King. I’ll give it a shot.

I am eating one as I write this. The bun is amazing. Best bun I’ve ever had at a fast food place. It holds up to the burger, it’s perfect.

we had super bacon cheeseburgers on fresh baked buns tonight, and, they were DAMN GOOD!!
Usually when I want a burger, Carls Jr was about the last place I thought of (they’re the farthest from home, and they’ve always been a little slow) but that may change with these. Now if they’d just improve their overly breaded onion rings, I’d really be happy

I had always been a hamburger fan, and I still am. By the way, I’m not related to anyone associated with Hardees and have no inducement of any nature whatsoever to praise them, but I simply had to respond on this topic. The bacon cheeseburger (1/3 of a pound) with mustard added is the best hamburger I’ve ever eaten—-BY FAR!!!!! Hardees has won me over permanently with those buns. I used to go Hardees occasionally, especially for their chili dogs, but since those new buns have appeared, it seems to me that the crowds eating there have tripled. Maybe that is the new bias in favor of Hardees that has crept into my psyche, but those buns make all the difference.

I’m firmly in the camp that the bun can make or break a burger, so I had to try these. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Granted, I’m not that big a fan of the actual burgers at Hardee’s, but the bun was top notch. As a matter of fact I eat at a lot of local premium burger places and the only place I’ve found with a better bun is one of those “all local ingredients” type places that also bakes their bun in house. I’ve found that the bun goes well on the chicken sandwiches they sell too. For a $0.30 upgrade charge its well worth it.
