Spotted in a Texas McDonald’s: Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothie and Arctic Orange Shake

Stopped in Elgin, Texas and came across these two new items at McDonald’s. Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothie ($2.29 small) and Arctic Orange Shake ($1.99 small). Test market items that could see a wide release at some point.

They’ve had the blueberry pomegranate smoothie here for a couple weeks now. I tried it once … it’s pretty good, but I still prefer the strawberry banana one.

The Arctic Orange Shake is an LTO that comes around every year.

We have had the arctic orange shakes for awhile here in Wisconsin.

There is also a sign on the drive thru I have noticed that says “Add 2 slices of bacon to any sandwich for 99 cents.”

The Arctic Orange shake is not new. It is the current featured shake at McDonalds here in Colorado right now, and it has been featured off and on for years it seems like.

The Artic Orange shake has been in the Chicagoland area for a few years now as a seasonal item. It’s pretty awesome too.

Huh, didn’t realize these were test items. They’ve been available in Rochester for a couple weeks, and the Arctic Orange shake made a brief appearance a few months ago as well.

Haven’t tried the smoothie yet, but the shake is delicious.

  12. Bob Smith says:

In what sense is this “Arctic?” Are they heavy on the vanilla, to try to be an Orange Julius like the Arby’s orange shake?

Saw the Arctic Orange shake here in Tennessee

I have not seen any of these items in the NYC area.

I’ve had the Arctic Orange shake before… it seems to show up every summer. It’s pretty good, although I prefer the strawberry and vanilla shakes.

I’ve never seen the blueberry pomegranate smoothie though… that’s a new one to me. Sounds delicious though.

ugh… I must be tired; leave out the first “though” in my second paragraph. Sorry for the redundancy…
