Papa John’s New Five Sausage Pizza featuring Chorizo Sausage

I’ve always considered chorizo to be underutilized.  I look at it more as a breakfast sausage, but the spicy, peppery flavors should be effective on pizza too.  New at Papa John’s, the Five Sausage Pizza featuring chorizo, pork sausage, mild and spicy Italian sausage and smoked sausage.  Available for $10 (large) for a limited time.

I had one of these a few days ago with my Super Bowl Papa Johns Free Pizza.

    Extra sauce, well done.

I added peppers and onions and removed their basic sausage. This was a pretty decent pizza with a lot of nice flavors.

I also recommend ordering their pizzas “well done”. I’ve had so many problems with undercooked, and sometimes raw in places, dough from Papa John’s.

On the other hand, you sometimes get a pie that isn’t nicely charred, but just burnt in places.

Ugh, this pizza was so gross..the “smoked sausage” tasted just like hot dogs. Hot dogs are definitely not good on pizza.

I agree with Joe. You’ve got the smoked sausage which is the hot-dog like sliced sausage, but then the other 4 (pork sausage, mild Italian sausage, spicy Italian sausage, and chorizo) are all completely interchangeable. If you had a gun to my head, I wouldnt have been able to tell the difference between them. And I agree that the hotdog like sausage was gross, IMO. It all comes off as kind of gimmicky….like the 5 cheese pizzas, or 6 cheese pizzas, or whatever number of cheese pizzas they’re up to now.

I ordered this 5 sausage pizza it didnt have large pieces of sausage I dont know if they were out or just didnt know how to make it I wouldnt recommend it

The smoked sausage was a very ordinary product like a Hillshire Farms but it in no way resembled a hotdog in flavor.

I order sausage from different companies around the country so I’m looking for the basic spice profiles for each type when I eat this pizza. With that in mind I tend to pull a little of each style/type of sausage off the pizza and eat it before I eat the pizza. They all checked out to me as not great quality but certainly representative of the flavor I would expect from each style advertised on the pizza.

    Opinions vary 😉

I ordered one of these, they did not use chorizo or pork sausage.
I don’t know if they were out, or what happened. Unfortunately, that’s the risk of ordering a pizza. But, with just the 3 sausages, its a very bland pizza. I will not order again.
