New KFC Chicken Littles in Test Markets

Thanks to GrubGrade reader Geoff for the info on this and I’ve confirmed with KFC corporate.  KFC Chicken Littles are back!  Sorta, kinda.  Freshly breaded tenders with pickles and mayo (or possibly Colonel’s Sauce) on a sweet bun.

It seems that every time I post anything KFC related, comments are left saying “Bring back Chicken Littles!”  Well, KFC Chicken Littles are in test markets and considered “new”.

We’ll let you know when more details become available on any possible nationwide release.

How are these any different than the KFC Snackers that they currently offer aside from having pickle and mayo on them instead? I miss the OLD Chicken Littles. They were a favorite of mine in my early teenage years.

  2. Steve says:

I loved the original. Months back when they brought back the Chicken Little, it was good but still quite different from what we grew up loving. Then they got rid of that and are now releasing this 3rd version which is basically a Chicken Snacker with pickles sigh. I just wish the originals would return. They were delicious and cheap. Usually my local KFC has test market products, I’ll see if they have them there later and try them out.

Chicken Littles should NOT have pickles! So much wrong, KFC; so much sadness.

    • Scrape says:

They are trying to copy Chick-fil-a with the inclusion of the mayo and pickle. McD’s does the same with their southern-style chicken sandwich.

      • Chipster22 says:

I don’t think either Chick-fil-a nor McDonald’s have mayo on their southern style sandwiches.

      • belinskaya says:

Pickles + Mayo = nasty. WHich is why Chik-fil-A doesn’t do that, and neither does McDonald’s in their knockoff.

Chicken Littles should have mayo and lettuce. If they want to knock off Chik-fil-A, then they need to kill the mayo. And the name.

  4. PJH says:

Another Chicken Little letdown. I echo the sentiment that they need to bring the originals back. MSC patty (gross?), mayo, bun. Why is it so difficult for KFC to understand that this is what the people want?!?!?

  5. ljay says:

KFC Blazin’ Strips..that’s what the people want. 😉

  6. Raiders757 says:

This is a test market item? I thought it was released nation wide. They’ve advertising them on television around here for over a month now.

  7. Charlotte says:

Blasphemers! Those are not Chicken Littles.

  8. Justin ST says:

Chicken Little’s lawyers are NOT going to be happy!

  9. Kacey says:

Bring back the KFC chicken nuggets. They were way better than any other fast food nugget.

  10. JF says:

Never heard of, thus never had a Chicken Little. I’ll go google it as I’m interested, but I see a lot of comments about it no being a “Chicken Little” so what was the original?

    • belinskaya says:

The original was a small chicken patty, with mayo and shredded iceberg lettuce, on a little bun. I think they came in 3 packs. It’s like a cheap fried chicken slider. One of the best fast food items available in the late 80s, IMO. Yeah, it probably was mechanically separated, but it was all white meat (wasn’t grey like Chicken Nuggets from McDonalds), and the breading was well-spiced, not overly black-pepper like McDonald’s McChicken.

The new ones have a couple problems. 1) the pickles – those should be lettuce. 2) the breading – it looks more extra crispy when the original was more original recipe. I’ll take a real piece of chicken over the pressed patty, but with two iconic flavour/texture elements off, these are simply not Chicken Littles.

they better not ditch my buffalo snacker

  12. Vanessa says:

Woohoo!!! I remember eating these as a kid. I loved/ begged for them. It was sad when they stopped selling them. Glad they r coming back!

  13. TJ says:

Everybody is acting like this is sacrilege, it’s a value menu chicken sandwich. The old ones must have been amazing, but that’s old news. These look pretty good, I can’t see how pickles will ruin anything.

    • John says:

You’re right, pickles don’t ruin anything. They ruin everything.

They are the worst offender of infiltrating their flavors of anything they touch.

  14. kikurage says:

I am looking forward to this chicken burger. Especially, I think the combination of pickles and mayo sauce is matched with chicken filet.

  15. Karee says:

I loved those little bites of goodness in the late 80s! Wish they’d bring them back exactly the same.

  16. Anon says:

Back by popular demand, woohoo, wait… whuh?

  17. heath says:

has there been any updates on these being rolled out? anyone know what markets these were tested in?

  18. Hans says:

I am actually curious in which TV market(s) the ads are on TV?

  19. Adam says:

I was so excited to see your headline here, but these so-called Chicken Littles just look like KFC Snackers.

I won’t. E satisfied until they bring back REAL Chicken Littles!

  20. Jeff Gilleran says:

I being a huge fan of the original chicken littles agree with about everyone here.
The originals were simply a prefect blend of flavors and texture.
They were MSC, on a dinner roll with pepper mayo.
This current layout is basically a snacker with a different name.
There was never pickle, not a filet, and not on a hawiian bun.
The taste is not, nor will ever be like the original snacker.. Plain and simple.
    KFC.. Please.. Restore the original.
The new little isn’t worthy of the name.
You had a hit with the original with alot of adoring fans.
Don’t ruin it with a poser sandwich that might be a good snacker addition, but not a direct replacement for the original.

  22. Becky says:

You can’t bring back Chicken Littles that are NOT chicken littles…the ones from the 80’s should be brought back like the original chicken little. They were delicious then and only 15 cents… bring back the original Chicken Little please

  23. Billy says:

I’m a fan of the original chicken littles back in the mid/late 80’s. However, I’ll take real chicken over the more than likely fake chicken they had 15 years ago.

I’m pretty sure it’s against the law to sell those things now considering how processed those things were.

  24. Becky says:

These Chicken Littles are Stackers with Pickles… how dumb do you think the consumer is?

  25. teffanie says:

these chicken little’s is nothing like the old ones….all these new ones are….is another version of the stacker..don’t care for them at alll…..would rather have the older version from the 90’s …94-95…used to eat’em by the dozen…

  26. teffanie says:

i too was so excited to find out they’ve brought the chicken lil’ back…only to be mad when i really saw what it really was…dont care to waste my money on them…until they come back with the original one…

  27. holydiver says:

I knew theyd screw it up.

  28. John says:

Huge mistake. Kfc snacker was muuuuch better.

  29. bella says:

Chicken little’s are nasty!!!! Bring back kfc snackers:)
