The Return of KFC Chicken Littles?

I’ve heard a lot of you in the comments mention how you’ve been wanting KFC to bring back Chicken Littles.  Could this be a sign of a nationwide return?

Thanks to GrubGrade reader Steven for the info:

I’m not sure if this is a nationwide promotion or just available in my area (New Bedford, MA) but the KFC Chicken Littles have returned. They were done away with and replaced with the KFC Chicken Snacker in the past. Now KFC has brought them back and are selling them for 99 Cents. The chicken is a bit larger than they were in the past. The bread is now circular as opposed to square as it previously was. Also, I noticed that there is no sauce of any kind on the chicken. Just bread and chicken.

The snackers suck, I welcome my new mini-chicken sandwich overlords.

It BETTER be the sign of a nationwide return. Or heads will roll.

    Fail, I say.

I love these as a young-in because they had bread, chicken… and drum roll, mayo.

Where’s my mayo? Or did they come with it? I can not remember. They better have mayo packets in stock then.

Usually when mayo is applied to any of my fast foodstuffs, it is an exorbitant amount. I’d rather have none, than my sammich swimming in a congealed glop of ‘naise.

I have to agree, although I hate mayo wit ha passion. Still, even if I liked the stuff, I would rather apply my own condiments to my sandwiches and such. I’ve never understood why they come as standard issue on burgers and chicken sandwiches. It only makes sense to leave standard condiments to the consumer. I can only imagine such a concept would save kitchen confusion and return orders. If mayo even looks at my sandwich, you can bet I’m returning and expecting a fresh order made the way I asked for it. Good move by KFC not adding nasty mayo or any other condiments to these “littles”. Who knows, maybe the chicken tastes so good, it doesn’t need any sort of sauces or dressings. Then again, it’s KFC, so I won’t get my hopes up.

Whoa whoa whoa. Those sandwiches in the pictures are NOT the Chicken Littles of yesteryear. They were like little square breaded chicken patties with mayo on a bun. Why would they mess with a good thing? This disappoints me greatly.

  5. Jesse says:

I trust they are much more palatable than those BK Mini Chicken abominations..

  6. Piggly Winks says:

Yes they had mayo! Oh God let it b true! Nationwide or bust7
! I use 2 eat these 5-6 @ a time. I am not particularly fond of the new price tag or wait is that LETTUCE!??!

  7. J.B. says:

These look good and yes, mayo please, but just a little.
Maybe even a little pickle too.

    And yes, the snackers suck.

  8. Tealeaf says:

No, not a Chicken Little. Just another little chicken sandwich that they’ve given the old name too. And without mayo is wouldn’t be much of Chicken Little at that. 99 Cents and I have to put the goop on myself? Nice try, KFC. I’m smarter than that.

  9. PlatypusTheConqueror says:

I think this is fantastic. You can get a cheap processed patty with all the mayo and lettuce you want gooped on it for 99 cents anywhere else… They do that to disguise the patty.

Sure it’s bare bones. The purity is grace. I like when the better fast food joints give you the chance to snag smaller value-priced options. I can’t count how many times I’ve craved KFC’s seasoned and fried chicken (like these new Chicken Littles, not what comes on a Snacker) but didn’t want to spend $7 for lunch.

I’ve been happy that Wendy’s and Arby’s and KFC have been offering great stuff for a buck.

This is like the USA Basketball team every four years at the Olympics being called the “Dream Team.” There was only one Dream Team and it had Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson on it. (And for some reason Christian Laetnner, but that’s beside the point.)

There was only one Chicken Little and it was square and had mayo on it. You can call subsequent mini chicken sandwiches “Chicken Littles,” but that doesn’t make it so.

  11. Charlotte says:

Yeah these are not chicken littles. That looks vaguely like ~real chicken~ and anyone and everyone who is a Littlehead like me will tell you Littles come with packed and pressed mechanically separated chicken discs. Not even going to mention the blasphemy of the lack of mayo. I am disappoint.

  12. Joeshmoe says:

Which KFC in NB did you find them at?

  13. Bunny says:

A buck for a CL? I miss the cheap, old school square CL with the mayo. Either bring back the original or don’t bother 🙁

I’m trying to hunt down a chicken little anywhere in southern california… any help out there? I wish there was a locator map.

    • dabbbababa says:

I found them at the KFC/TacoBell mashup in Coalinga, CA. I know small crappy town, but they have the new chicken littles. I didn’t really enjoy it, as it was small and very dry. I’m going to give it one more shot, but this time I’m going to ask for mayo. Definitely not what they used to be back in the day unfortunately.

    Chicken little’s for president!

  16. jim says:

The picture is not a true chicken little ….back in the day i was in the store that test marketed the originals … easy to make and sold hundreds in one lunch hour miss them back then they ran a quarter a piece …but then again the store was under the franchise of pete harmon ( look it up > best kfc franchise and the honest/non commercialized part of KFC”s history > pepsiCo ruined the Col franchise ) anywho..

I remember Chicken Littles well, and my KFC used to have Double Chicken Littles.

A regular was a small chicken patty encased in two buns, with a squirt of Miracle Whip for 69 cents.

A double was the same thing but with two patties and 2 squirts of Miracle Whip on between the patties, and one between the top bun and the top patty.

The Buns were simply square sweet rolls. I remember the patties being little round patties that extended slightly over the bun.

  18. James says:

I used to love the Chicken Littles but I guess they are gone forever. I tried the new version yesterday and was disappointed. Everything that made the original great was missing and I won’t be buying them again.

  19. Matt says:

Nope, these are NOT Chicken Littles. The ones we had and loved were $.39 each, had the mayo that comes in a ten gallon bucket, were square, and were mechanically enhanced! Yeah they bad for you, but they were delicious! I have not eaten at KFC since they took them away. That was about 15-20 years ago I guess? Too bad they can’t bring back the REAL chicken littles!
