Oatmeal Comes To Burger King Breakfast Menu

McDonald’s got the ball rolling with its Fruit & Maple Oatmeal… Chick-fil-A recently introduced their Multigrain Oatmeal… now Burger King and Quaker have teamed up to bring oatmeal to yet another fast food establishment.  Whatever happened to traditional fast food favorites like Egg McMuffins and breakfast sandwiches made with waffles?

via Miami Herald :

The Quaker oatmeal will be available nationally starting this week during regular breakfast hours from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Suggested retail price is $1.99 per serving. The oatmeal is available in original and fruit-topped maple, which includes dried fruit toppings of cranberries, raisins, cherries and blueberries.

Well, at least they had the good sense to outsource it.

  2. Natalie says:

I get the feeling they’re charging $1.99 for a packet of Quaker instant oatmeal.

I was thinking the same thing — the Quaker name is actually something of a turn off. Not that there’s anything wrong with Quaker oatmeal, but as other commenters said, I can make that at home. In fact, I’m trying to remember what a container of Old Fashioned oatmeal costs these days; I don’t think it’s much more than $1.99 if that. Just put oats, water, a pinch of salt in a bowl, microwave on high for two minutes, toss in some blueberries or dried fruit and BOOM, ya got oatmeal!

And it’s so easy to make. Instant oatmeal + hot water= $1.79 profit

  4. Wasselin says:

I am not paying 1.99 for OATMEAL. Why? Just why? Normal Oatmeal isn’t that hard to make and Instant Oatmeal is even easier. Why would you pay someone else to make it for you.

I actually like oatmeal, but if I was going out to eat I wouldn’t order it.

  5. SkippyMom says:

McDonald’s looks better – that is a bad pic/advertisement but at least if you are going to eat fast food oatmeal is a healthier option.

  6. J.B. says:

    Unenthusiastic, yay….

Why would I not just buy a box of Quaker Oats oatmeal and do this at home? I mean if you can’t make oatmeal, then god help you.

Unfortunately there are a lot of lazy people out there, but I don’t think they would be at BK getting oatmeal, they’d be getting something much more fattening.

Safe to assume that BK will find a way to f this up anyway.

  7. Jesse says:

Something about buying oatmeal from Burger King feels so unsettling..

  8. KTK says:

$2 for a bowl of oatmeal? Bought in the store, you’d probably spend $0.25 and all it’d take is some water and 2min in a microwave. I suppose it’s a healthy option for someone who is a tag-along at BK for breakfast and wants something healthy.

someone’s copying mcdonalds. the cappuccinos and trendy coffee drinks are upcoming!

  10. Mike says:

I just gotta say – I know how to make oatmeal – yep, I do! And I have a real job, and I work! And I appreciate that Burger King and other FF’s are offering healthy stuff LIKE oatmeal. So, when I’m travelling for work, and I’m not home or didn’t think to bring my own instant oatmeal with me, I am VERY grateful that I can get it at BK! Thank you! And thanks for it being Quaker! It’s all quality and really delish!
