Food News: New! Jr. Buffalo Chicken from Arby’s

No official word out of Arby’s yet, but it looks like the next product in the company’s new “Feel Good Food” line is a value menu offering. I snagged this photo at my local Arby’s this morning:

According to the girl at the counter, the Jr. Buffalo Chicken Sandwich is just like Arby’s Jr. Chicken Sandwich, except it features Buffalo Sauce instead of Mayo. Priced at $1.19 at my local Arby’s, my guess is that it will be in the 300 calorie range.

Come on GrubGrade, taking the picture of the window and knowing you were going to post on this item, …. did you really go into the restaurant and ask the worker about it but refuse to shell out the buck in order to actually try it or snag a pic of the sandwich for your blog post?

    Can we maybe find a contributor to the fast food review blog that will go the “extra mile”? 🙂

    Good sandwich for the money.
    Beware, it is hot as hell.
    I recommend putting some ranch dressing on the sandwich also to cut the heat a little and add a little flavor.

    Site traffic tells me this post was newsworthy… Search engine statistics prove it. And the review Adam is working on will bring in more uniques. Not to get geeky on you with analytics… but this post is worthy, even with only 4hrs after publishing.

      I care about running a successful blog and drawing in new readers. We’ve got plenty going on in our archives for unique traffic to go through. We update daily and I’m aware not every post will be liked or cared for at all. I’m sure a ton of stuff is given barely a glance. Sometimes there’s a 600-word review, other times there’s food news posts, etc. I admit to a good handful of not-so-quality posts myself, so i understand where youre coming from… but the site is successful as a part-time hobby… everyone who works on this site balances full-time jobs and school. All that said, I know you’re a regular visitor/commenter and I appreciate that. I’m not trying to fight, just trying to defend .

      A review would have been just as easy? You’ve got an open invite to join the GrubGrade team as a writer. We could use someone like you. If you think it’s easy, I’m sure you can handle it. Email me.

    I saw this advertised outside my local Arby’s for $1.

    I also saw a commercial for it on TV today.

    I forgot to say that in the commercial you can clearly hear that they overdubbed some audio. At one point he says from off camera “and it’s on the value menu!”, which was probably “and it’s only a buck!” originally.

    It’s funny that the phrase “According to the girl at the counter” sounds wrong (non-PC, I guess). But, in the real world, it could quite possibly be a 14 or 15 year old girl working there. I personally would differ to “young woman” rather than “girl”, though. Just sayin’.

    Just wondering why you don’t leave similar comments on The Impulsive Buy when they post pictures of products they see on shelves as food news. I appreciate your daily reading of the site and I hope it continues, but from what I’ve seen of your comments, it seems like you like to chime in negatively on things that I write, specifically. Sorry if I can’t bust out several new reviews everyday. God forbid I should try to live my normal life and finish out my college education.

    What is up with complaining here? Its clearly a teaser and of course a review will come. A new product comes out and Grubgrade covers it, with a well thought out review to follow later, that is kind of how it works. As for the Jr. Buffalo Chicken? I have never had anything at Arbys beyond the yummy beef and cheddar so I have no idea if this will be good.

    Adam, if your going to do anything on the internet you need to learn to take nothing peronsally. As for myself, I have worked for a few sites in the past. It was all video game related, but my videos were viewed millions of times. I did it as a hobby but at the same time I wanted to be sucessfull. Along with praise I got plenty of critisism, some of it bordering on hate speach. I had a fued with the cast of a tv show I declaired “unwatchable”. You have to learn early to take things in context. Even if you have to create a context for the commentor. Then builld from that. I have no doubt that grubgrade will continue to grow and be a huge sucess. Though along with that you will get your fair share of critisism. If you wrote for yourself, all your posts would be on your hard drive not the internet.

    As far as having a life, I quit making videos because from start to finish it takes dozens of hours to write and edit one video, and run a fine dinning restaurant. After two years I realiized that I loathe video editing. I guess my long winded point is that you are preaching to the chior.

      Your critisism [sic] is poorly placed considering.

      Please realiize [sic] that to make a valid argument, on the internet, you have to appear as though you have a basic command of spelling.

      I am not trying to start a fued [sic] but perhaps you should proofread your menus at your fine dinning [sic] restaurant before you expect anyone to take you seriously here on the internet.

    I think we’ve beaten a dead horse that we’ve killed in other posts before here, buddy. This ain’t my first rodeo with online criticism. All I can leave you with is that I hope as you look back at the body of GG work, you appreciate this site for what it is (A food review site for fun which covers random things and not exclusively fast food) and not feel the need to paint each one of the posts that don’t meet your expectations with a broad paintbrush. That’s all I can ask. As for me, I’ll say it again. I ain’t writing just for you, buddy 🙂

    I enjoyed it. Just another cheap chicken sandwich. I’ve noticed inconsistent sizes of chicken on arbys value menu. It can be pretty small at times. The sauce was tangy. Overall pretty good for the buck.

    For what it’s worth (I made the comment on top) … my post was meant to be a little cheeky poke at the food review blogger that would actually go into the joint to ask the staff about the sandwich, and take a picture of the window sign with the sandwich on it, but wouldn’t just plunk down a buck to actually try the sandwich.

    I don’t know how inflammatory or mean-spirited it is that I have a little giggle about that… it IS funny, doggone it. But don’t count me among the “haters”, I love GG.

    I’m actually excited about trying this – I love anything with buffalo chicken. The only thing I was surprised about was that it has more fat and calories than the regular sandwich.

    The Buffalo sauce seems like it’s different from the regular one, but maybe that’s just me. It seems like it’s a lot like McDonald’s own, which, if you look at the ingredients, states that it has whey protein in it, I believe? It makes it a bit creamier and less harsh, in my opinion, but that’s just my theory.

    Why does this bother anyone? They do this all the time. Food news. It is announcing a new product. I just learned about it and am interested.

    If a minor adjustment to a previous menu item wasn’t news than Taco Bell might never get mentioned on this blog.

    I look forward to the review, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it like I do the vast majority of GrubGrades posts.

    These writers work, especially Adam’s, are very high quality for a blog on a lighthearted subject.

    Well I tried it. Saw a commercial on Tv for a buck….I got there and it was $1.39. I am from Louisiana and I have to say ..The guy in the back went crazy on the sauce and I am still sweating!! And I know hot food!!

    But it makes an average sandwich pretty good…although no one in the restaurant was wearing tight orange shorts!!

    The reason I went is because today on Arby’s facebook page if you like them you get a coupon for free curly fries and needed something else. Worth a buck….yes…a buck fifty. no….Burger King here I come…
