Food News: Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr. Add Buffalo Chicken Tenders

Expanding off of last year’s release of the hand-breaded chicken tender line (read my 2010 review here), Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr. are adding a new flavor to the mix: Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo Sauce. Available in sandwich, wrap, and tender form, the spiked-up chicken comes paired with the familiar buttermilk ranch sauce for a cooling effect:

Freshly prepared, premium, all-white meat chicken tenders hand-dipped in buttermilk, lightly breaded and fried to a golden brown then smothered in Frank’s® Red Hot® Buffalo Wing Sauce. Served with a side of buttermilk ranch dipping sauce

The sandwich clocks in at 630 calories, 31 grams of fat (6 saturated) and 36 grams of protein, while the wrap is 270 calories, 16 grams of fat (5 saturated) and 14 grams of protein. A 3-piece order of tenders is 280 calories, 13 grams of fat (2.5 saturated) and 25 grams of protein, sans sauce.

Had the buffalo tenders for lunch today, and they’re quites good. I will warn you though… they are most certainly NOT for grubbing on the go as they’re totally drenched in the Frank’s Red Hot. Leaves a tasty puddle for french fry dipping.

Oh man, I’m all over these. One of you guys can have my dipping sauce. Just give me the chicken.

And THAT declaration does exactly WHAT as to taste quality or anything other than approaching the emotional irrational portion of the human herd’s brainlets?

What if an electro-mechanical device applied the breading?

Would the freedom-seeking huddles masses be able to ascertain any differences between the “hand-type” breading method and one using a contraption?

What if the humanoid breading by hand has tuberculosis and while spending an inordinate amount of time in proximity of the items to be breaded coughs, delivering tubular bacilli upon the morsels?

Oh come on. I like Obbop. He keeps things interesting. His website is a trip.

That being said, sometimes I imagine Obbop is an alien draped in human skin who is learning our mannerisms and customs before the ultimate alien invasion from his home world overruns us.

Anyway, Obbop, I’m a fan. Keep up the good work. And when the time comes, I bow to our new alien overlords!

I agree with his mocking of the term ‘hand-dipped’

Aren’t you concerned about the germs that the CHICKEN might be carrying? I mean, salmonella kills too. 😛

I had the three piece buffalo chicken tenders today. For a fast food place they were excellent, and I will order them again. As the commenter above says, they are drenched in the sauce (and are best eaten at a table if possible)!

Does anyone know when these will be nationwide?
