Food News: Au Bon Pain Adds Avocado

Ever been to Au Bon Pain? Currently located in 19 states and the District of Columbia, the fast casual cafe has always been one of my favorites. They’ve added several new tasty selections for the fall, and this month, Au Bon Pain is bringing aboard avocado.

Aside from giving customers the chance to add avocado to any sandwich or salad, Au Bon Pain is sporting a new GrilledChicken and Avocado Sandwich. Featuring “all natural chicken, fresh avocado, applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, mesclun, and Dijon & blue cheese dressing,” the sandwich is served on a grilled baguette. Looks like you’re getting your moneys worth too, as it packs a punch at 690 calories, 25 grams of fat (6 saturated) and 1960 mg of sodium. If you’re looking for something sweeter, the chain’s new Chai Spice and Chocolate Mocha Whoopie pies might be more up your alley.

I hope it is better than the thin spread of avocado that Subway had a few months ago. And $1 extra? What a rip-off Subway!

I used to love their Arizona Chicken sandwich…but I no longer have an Au Bon Pain remotely near me.

  3. Crysta says:

I wonder if the little Au Bon Pain in my college library has this?

Not exactly a healthy sandwich, isn’t it? 1690 mg of sodium? That’s nearing a day’s worth of salt!

Back when I worked in the airport, Au Bon Pain allowed me to enjoy gaining many a pound. Their fresh sandwiches, soups, and sweets are definitely worth trying.
