First Impressions: New Chicken Bites from Checkers

New at Checkers… Chicken Bites.  A small order will run you $2.00.  If you go to my local Checkers, they are worth every penny.  I pretty much got a holster full of the little nuggets and probably another 10-12 nuggets spilled into the bag.

The Checkers description:

On the run or on the go, our new Chicken Bites and Chicken Bites Box with Fries come at a great low price. Portable so you can take’em with you. Poppable so you can toss them back. No matter the craving, you’ll steer your mouth to juicy, irresistible flavor.

I love my local Checkers.  First impressions: A ton of black pepper taste, but pretty decent nonetheless.  Chunky breading but not overly so to hide the fact that you’re eating chicken.  I love the size of the sauces too.  Well, maybe I like the packaging of the sauces.  It’s 1.5 oz and off the top of my head I don’t know what the standard is.  Your options: Ranch, Blue Cheese, Honey Mustard, Buffalo, BBQ etc.  Chicken Bites are worth the $2.00.  Recommended.

I’m hoping these are on Rally’s menu as well. I’m sure they are ,so I might have to make a visit to my local franchise sometime this week.

Thanks for your impression. In my neighborhood, the bites are $1 and the bites box that includes fries is $2.

Looks good. And I also appreciate it if they make bigger sauce containers. I’m not sure what the standard for sauces is either, but running out of sauce is one of my pet peeves for fast food places.

I got some chicken Mcnuggets today and the Mcdonald’s sauces are 0.79 ounces.

I got the $2 dollar bites and fries box, can’t believe how much food it is for 2 bucks. A whole meal in and of itself!

Yeah, Rally’s has them too, at $1 and $2 prices. I think they are an equivalent to the Popcorn at KFC. Excellent choice and even better value. Drive through person here also mentioned 1/2 lb. and 1 lb versions. Not sure the prices on those, but it sounds enticing.

Finally got down to Rally’s to try the bites ($2 for the box w/fries). Definately tasty, with nice pepper flavor. Like Ryan and Jeff said, surprising how much food it was for two bucks — I added a burger, but I really wouldn’t have had to.

After reading this review, trecked down to my local Checkers (at which I’ve usually had mediocre to poor experiences), and tried my luck. Got the $2 box with the fries, but also got the 1/2 pound box per Sascha’s suggestion. I tried one while driving back home, and was immediately impressed with the flavor and taste. They had 2 for $1 apple pies at mine, and they just came out of the {insert whatever they cook their pies in here}, so I had to say yes when they asked. For around $6, I had plenty of delicious food for probably two (small) people (or one of me).
