I LOVE Panera bread and I can’t wait for the mac and cheese! This was a great video; I love how he talks about how you go to potluck dinners, and always go straight for the mac & cheese. He made a roux – it’s gonna be good! I hope this will be offered as part of their pair 2 deal.
I find Panera to be a dirty disgusting restaurant with low quality ingredients. How anyone can eat there amazes me. The only good thing is once, while traveling, it was our only food option at an exit and while we were in line and our daughter (around 5 at the time) barfed on the floor so we left. I believe it was a warning sign from above.
And oh boy, a roux! That’s fancy talk for they are going to use flour as a filler in the processed cheese product.
Maybe it was a test market or something, but I’ve eaten their Mac & Cheese numerous times while living in Florida. It was quite tasty, but not as good as making it from scratch at home.
I work at Panera. We get it frozen, and thaw it in a double boiler, as we do with all our frozen soup. It doesn’t negate the quality, but it’s not fresh made by any means. We also keep it for 2 hours at a time. Enjoy it, but it’s mac and cheese 2010 style. The pasta is great, but this video seems misleading. Enjoy the mac and cheese, but we have no pasta boilers.
I always go into Panera planning to try something new, but somehow I always come out with a toasted everything bagel with plain cream cheese. Sometimes I throw in a fruit and yogurt parfait if I’m really hungry. The granola they use for those tastes great to me.
