Football Sunday Week 1: What Are You Grubbing On?

My favorite day of the week (from September to early February) is here!!!  It’s football Sunday!  A day to sit back and enjoy the NFL.  Today is the first Sunday of the 2010 season and if you’re out shopping or at the park or something other than watching football from 1pm-1130pm est… we just don’t have much in common.  So for all the people watching games today… What are you grubbing on? The most important part of football Sunday is figuring out what’s on the menu.  Let’s at least feast our eyes upon some tasty ideas.  Observe:

What team do you cheer for?  Who’s on your fantasy football roster?  What are you eating?  What size TV do you have?  Will you be at a game? Favorite beer/beverage of choice?  Most importantly, WHAT ARE YOU EATING? As for me, I’ll be comfortably parked in my recliner with a slice of BBQ Chicken Pizza from Il Forno.  Good luck to my Detroit Lions today as they start their journey to a possible 4-win season!!!  Haha… also good luck to the Haybokian Knights and my starting fantasy football roster.

  • Philip Rivers (QB), Adrian Peterson (RB), Rashard Mendenhall (RB), Hines Ward (flex), Calvin Johnson (WR), Chad Ochocinco (WR), Brent Celek (TE), New York Jets (D/ST), Mason Crosby (K)

Enjoy your Sunday everyone and thanks for reading GrubGrade.

    I’m on a diet 🙁

I don’t like football very much, at least not on tv, but I love to go to football parties for all the good food! My favorites are the meatballs in a crockpot (sweet/sour are the best kind), sliders, and cheese dip.

Can’t watch my hometown team (Cleveland Clowns, I mean Browns), so I’m watching my current “home”town team the Cincinnati Bungles, I mean Bengals. Who dey? Dey be stinkin’. I’m not grubbing on anything – I generally can’t eat while watching the games because both the Browns and Bengals make me physically ill. I’m not sure what type of fantasy numbers Ochocinco is putting up, but with the whuppin’ they are being handed I’m assuming they aren’t stellar.

    • Ryan says:

Haha, they are pretty stellar actually. 11 catches, 143yds, 1td 5min left in the 4th.

    • Rachel says:

Hey Clevegal, I feel your pain. I’m a Browns fan too. I missed the game because I was coaching soccer in Sandusky, but I got in my car just in time to hear Jim Donovan and Doug Dieken orate the final 37 seconds of yet another brilliant let down … you didn’t miss anything!

Here we go Brownies, woof woof … lol

New York Jets- favorite team for life. I don’t do fantasy football. The game is on Monday Night Football tomorrow but I will be munching on chips and dip with either a steak or cheeseburger for dinner. I have a small tv I will be watching the game on.

Buffalo Bills- loyal fan even with the horrid QB situation right now. My fantasy team did decent with the exception of Peyton Manning who did amazing. 40 Comp, 433 Pass Yds, 3 Pass TDs. He single handedly it for me this week. I was trying to keep it healthy while watching the game eating turkey burgers and oven baked zucchini sticks YUM!
    Fantasy Team:
    Peyton Manning(QB), Miles Austin(WR), Johnny Knox(WR), Chris Chambers(WR), Rashard Mendenhall(RB), Jerome Harrison(RB), Antonio Gates(TE)

What do you think of CJ Spiller?

I wish the Browns would have taken him instead of Montario Hardesty, who in true Cleveland Browns-draft pick fashion got injured the first week of camp.

      • Adam says:

I was happy we picked up CJ Spiller but I would have rather we picked up Jimmy Clausen for QB. I really dont like Edwards. Spiller did really good preseason but couldnt get anything started vs Miami. We will just have to wait and see how he does the rest of the season.

We bleed the Dallas blue babee! Except they stunk up the place last night by losing to the Skins [I hate the Skins – used to love them but then Danny boy came to town, ick.] Oh yeah, food, sorry about that.

Brats [I swear I could eat six of those puppies, so good] cold salads and beer.

  7. Rachel says:

FANTASY FOOTBALL: My opponent had Peyton Manning and Hakeem Nicks (who caught 3 tds this week). I got crushed.

Spartan Cheerleaders = Frank Gore, Deangelo Williams, Ochocinco, Desean Jackson, Matt Ryan, Tony Gonzalez, Phil Dawson, Chargers Defense

FOOD: We ate mini grilled cheese, bacon and tomato sandwiches with homemade creamy tomato soup.

  8. Vanessa says:

My favorite team is Virginia Tech. I like college football more than NFL. I love to eat appetizers during the game. Homemade spicy chex mix, wraps, stuffed mushrooms, and of course Brownie sundaes. That may sound like odd football food, but it sounds good to me. Go Hokies!!!
