Food News: Toppings for Touchdowns at Papa John’s

Super Bowl 44 is this Sunday, February 7th.  Papa John’s has a “Toppings for Touchdowns” promotion going for the big game.  For every touchdown scored by the winning team, customers will receive a Free Topping on a $9.00 Large Cheese Pizza. So chances are we’ll be seeing maybe 3 or 4 free toppings coming our way.  The offer will be good for the 3 days following the game (Monday February 8th through Wednesday February 10th). Maybe Papa John’s will make up a little money for all they will miss out on because of this east coast blizzard that’s approaching.  One of the biggest pizza days of the year and I’m sure sales in the Mid-Atlantic states will be crushed because of the weather.  Super Bowl predictions anyone?  I’m kind of pulling for the Saints but my prediction is Colts 31 Saints 27.

I’ve got the Colts 38-24. And a 5 topping large pizza for $9 seems pretty good to me, so I’d take that even though I want the Saints to win…

They do this around here every Monday following the Redskins’ game – which is usually a safe bet because the ‘Skins SUCK. [not a fan ;D]

Saints 24 – Colts 6 – I hope the Colts suck wind [no offense]

I’m torn with this game. My family has Cajun roots, so it’s hard not to pull for the Saints. On the other hand, Manning is THE best QB in the NFL, but some like to wash the overrated Tom Brady’s balls a little too much for my liking thanks to the system he plays in. If the Colts win, they boast the best record of the decade and two Super Bowl wins against the Cheatriots and their three Super bowls, as team of the decade. Ever since the fumble/snow job, I can’t stand anything that has to do with the Patriots and their bandwagon fans. If the Colts winning can put any sort of dent in the Patriots claim to team of the decade, I’ll have no problem with it at all. It’s about time the Patriots go back to where they belong in their town, playing fifth fiddle to the Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox, and Boston Collage.

  4. Colts will win, but I think that it will be pretty close.

Looks like it will be three free toppings. Too bad about the Saints winning, if I could have had my way neither of them would have won or even been in the Super Bowl. This would be the one time I would have been happy with a tie game so no one gets to win!

P.S. @Raiders757 Some of us aren’t bandwagon fans, I’ve been a fan of the Patriots ever since they were the first team I actually saw live almost 8 years ago. Peyton Manning is just as much of a system QB as Brady, they both have a penchant for short screen passes to move the ball quickly. Where Brady shines, and even as a Pats fan and a Colts hater I will admit Manning shines at this too, is the ability to read defenses and change the play at the line, with consistently successful results. After they are too old to keep playing, if they want, they can both keep making a lot of money as coaches.
