Food News: Taco Time Crispy Tacos for 50 Cents on Cinco de Mayo

Just in time to celebrate every one’s favorite excuse to eat Mexican food day, fast food chain Taco Time will be selling their signature Crispy Tacos for only 50 cents today. Touted as “Bigger and better than the rest,” each Taco comes with lean ground beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce and diced tomatoes stuffed into a crispy corn shell.

Each Taco (without Sour Cream) weighs in at 260 calories and 17 grams of fat (5 grams saturated) for those of you who keep score. Taco Time has more than 350 locations wordwide, and is a major Mexican fast food eatery out here in the interior west. They even operate a store on the campus of my college, but I’ve yet to check out their tacos.

We want your opinion; which Fast Food establishment serves the best “cheap” tacos, and how will you be celebrating Cinco de Mayo?

I don’t do cinco the mayo … it’s not an actual Mexican holiday (check wiki), Mexico celebrates its independence day in September.

Thank god I don’t know any wet blankets that “don’t do” Cinco de Mayo. Aside from a taquiria which makes fast tacos in SF, Del Taco makes a pretty tasty FF version.

  3. Joe Cool says:

@Tony, Cinco de Mayo is for amateurs. I don’t do it either, why do you need a “holiday” to go out?

  4. Tony jaguar says:

Joe cool (if that’s really your name) I don’t need a holiday to go out, but there is something so pavlovian about mariachi bands and the smell of carnitas this “pro” is powerless to resist.

Taco Johns has the best fast food tacos.
