Food News: New Breakfast Menu at Burger King

The BK Breakfast Menu is undergoing it’s biggest menu expansion ever.  9 new breakfast items for your consumption.  I’m trying to narrow down exactly what the “9” new items are.

I snapped some phone pics at a BK drive-thru and it looks like new items are… BK Breakfast Ciabatta Club, BK Breakfast Bowl, Mini Blueberry Biscuits, three breakfast platters (Ultimate, Pancake/Sausage, Pancake), the BK Breakfast Muffin Sandwich… that’s 7 plus there’s Seattle’s Best Coffee.

There seems to be varying degrees of “New” going on with some of the items.  There is a Chicken Biscuit breakfast sandwich, a side order of Southwestern Potatoes and Funnel Cake Sticks on the menu which might be new to some areas (although they’ve been around for well over a year in my area).

From the press release:

  • For sandwich lovers, there’s the BK(R) Breakfast Ciabatta Club Sandwich, which features eggs, fresh tomatoes, ham, bacon, American cheese and smoky tomato sauce. Brought together on a toasted Ciabatta bun made with whole grains, this hearty morning sandwich is offered at a suggested retail price of $2.89.
  • The easy-to-eat four-piece Mini Blueberry Biscuits are served warm with a side of vanilla icing for dipping. Bursting with blueberry, the four freshly baked biscuits are ideal for an on-the-go morning treat and can be enjoyed for just $1.
  • The BK(TM) Ultimate Breakfast Platter provides the ideal breakfast combination — scrambled eggs, sizzling sausage, golden hash browns, a buttery biscuit and fluffy pancakes for a suggested retail price of $4.29. Its siblings, the Pancake and Sausage Platter and the Pancake Platter, are available for a suggested retail price of $2.89 and $2.29, respectively.
  • Piping hot Seattle’s Best Coffee(R) turns up the volume on breakfast and is available in small, medium and large sizes at suggested retail prices of $1, $1.19 and $1.39, respectively. Burger King Corp. is also expanding its coffee offerings to include a line of Iced Seattle’s Best Coffee(R) in three premium flavors: mocha, vanilla and regular. Double brewed for a strong wake up call, the cool coffees are available at a suggested retail price of $1.89.

    Much better.
I foresee good things with the new ownership.
I went to my local BK for the first time in a long time on Friday and ordered a Whopper Jr.
For the first time in months in over a year, I actually got a hot burger with fresh lettuce and fresh tomato and decent pickles.
I have been complaining on the surveys forever about those things.

Can’t wait to try this Ciabatta sandwich!

  3. skippymom says:

I might actually try a biscuit on our next road trip. thanks

What are southwestern potatoes? Already sounds better than their fries. I love whoppers but the fries blow.

  5. rob says:

How do you pronounce “Ciabatta”? I’ll probably just ask for the “Breakfast Club Sandwich.”

Ciabatta is something that has been really hot the last couple of years, looks like two pieces of bread to me.

J.B., unless there was a miracle, BK couldn’t have been turned around in a few days. I just went to BK and didn’t notice anything different. Maybe you went just as they started lunch? It tends to be fresher around then.

This is a very good change! The Burger King breakfast menu has typically been pretty disgusting, except for the french toast sticks. I never liked the taste of their bacon or sausage (it had a strange greasy taste that was different than other places). I hope they have new bacon and sausage in addition to the new items!
I’m most excited about the ciabatta sandwich and the blueberry biscuits!

  8. IBeAnonymous says:

I wish there was something with beef/chicken there. I don’t eat pork, and McDonald’s at least has a Chicken Biscuit, and a Steak, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich (YUM!).

  9. Someguy says:

Thank goodness they changed the coffee, too. It was the absolute worst out of the breakfast bunch.

  10. Charlotte says:

Why does BK have to always complicate things with sauce? The ciabatta sandwich sounds great but there is that pesky sauce. Nobody wants saucy fingers or breath going in to work!

  11. Raiders757 says:

If they used real bacon instead of bacon flavored paste squirted on wax paper to look similar to the real thing, it would go a long way towards making their breakfast better. That said, I do have a soft spot for their fake bacon, egg, and cheese Crasandwich, so I doubt I’ll ever try any of the new items.

  12. Moku says:

They got rid of the Ham Omelette sandwich which I thought was pretty decent. My BK also raised the combo set prices by a few cents which pissed me off even more given the poor service and constant guessing of what I ordered in english by the ass(t.) manager. They really have to stop bait and switching value and small size orders and the prices on customers.

  13. J.B. says:

    Officially done with BK.
    They have not changed.
Went and got the Ciabatta breakfast sandwich and it was crap.
McDonalds and Subway are the best bets for breakfast….

  14. Justin says:

@Moku, I just went to BK to try the Ciabatta sandwich out. I got a combo, and although I wanted a regular soft drink, I didn’t ask for it. I got charged an extra 26 cents just for the drink! I asked the assistant manager/cashier at the counter, and she told me since soda costs more than coffee, I got charged that extra money.

I informed her that was baloney because I used to manage a fast casual restaurant and I know that soda is cheaper than coffee or orange juice. Way cheaper. I will be complaining to corporate. I’m probably done with BK now. I absolutely hate going there for lunch anyways. I always try going somewhere else.

    where are the ciniminis? 🙁

  16. Pizza T says:

I got the Ciabata BK breakfast sandwich today and I became suicidal. It was so horrible, I could only compare it to fecies. I actually thought a tomato might make this a good sandwich… I was way wrong. It was a warm tastles tomato. The Ciabata got an F- for taste. It din’t taste like a Ciabat at all. I could not finish the sandwich. I threw it out the window like lunatic and then went to subway and they were closed so I tried to return the sandwixh but I threw it out the window. I still have the mini blueberry things. I am waiting till tomorrow at night to return thr food when someone different is working. I’m gonna put some rotten food from my fridge in the bag to suppliment the weight. I fucking hate BK. Only buy there double cheese burger tohelp them loose money! PS Subway breakfast is good and so is Mcdonalds, yet Jack n the Box makes a dang good crouisanwicha and there egg is the realist of all fast food.
