Food News: McRib Returns Nationwide on November 2nd

The McRib is making it’s way back to a McDonald’s near you.  November 2nd marks the return of one of the most polarizing and elusive fast food items ever.  According to ChicagoBreakingBusiness, expect it to stick around for about 6 weeks.

So what exactly is the McRib? Well it’s not really ribs, but a boneless pork product shaped into a barbeque slathered “rib-like” slab, topped with pickles and onions and presented in sandwich form.  Nutrition-wise you’re looking at 500 calories, 26 grams of fat, 10 grams of saturated fat, 70 milligrams of cholesterol, 980 milligrams of sodium, 3 grams of fiber, 11 grams of sugar and 22 grams of protein.

I ate one of these back in 1982 and the memory haunts me still.

I don’t eat these – I always found them suspicious – but I know how your readers [and the world] love them….the best part is and the real news is they are releasing them NATIONWIDE! At all McDs. Which is a first for the sandwich – as they are have only been offered for short periods of time in certain markets.

But I knew you guys knew this before me. Probably why I stick to lame a** Mommy blogging.

@rob, no way dude. I’m sorry to hear that. I worked at McDonalds while they were having a seasonal McRib promotion, and I was in heaven. Drenched in mustard, this thing was nirvana. I miss being a teenager and being able to eat anything and everything in site (and still fit into 28″ jeans and not have heart palpitations).

    Bring back the McLean Deluxe!

I’ve never had a McRib, and until a week ago I never had a Filet-o-Fish. Having experienced the amazingness of the Filet, I must try the McRib.

When does Holiday Pie return?! I’d rather have that anyday.

This is completely against everything I normally like, but darn it, I love the McRib. Those pickles and onions just make it.

Please let this come to Canada, please let this come to Canada, please let this come to Canada…

I had my first McRib in 1982 in Knoxville, TN while on vacation at the World’s Fair. I was but a wee thing back then (as in under 5 years old) and I still love the McRib. We have them in Dayton, Ohio right now and I’m in hog heaven! (Pun semi-intended.)

OMG. I’m in HEAVEN. For those who haven’t tried it yet, or have tried it but were underwhelmed, order it with EXTRA SAUCE next time. DO NOT ACCEPT extra packets of their bbq sauce on the side. It’s NOT THE SAME. Make them slather on more sauce than they normally would do (sometimes they’re stingy with it!), and I promise, you will love it. It’s my fave fast food item in the whole world, of all time and I’m soooooo freaking excited. How many can I fit in a 6 week period, I wonder….

I’ve never had a McRib. I might try one this go around. Once while vacationing in Florida, I saw a McPizza being advertised at McDonalds. Has anyone ever tried that?

  14. harleytexas says:

The pizza was a popular item for a long time back in Canada. I would get it once in awhile.

I’m happy for those that just love this sandwich. This fast food sandwich has a cult following like no other. Personally I’m not a fan of it at all. Honestly, the only time I ever tried one, was in the early 80’s. I felt the meat texture was off, and the BBQ sauce was way too sweet(which is the case with any fast food BBQ sauce).

Enjoy your McRibs folks, and I feel bad for you guys that it’ll only be around for six weeks.

  16. Gersh says:

The McRib is quite simply THE BEST fastfood sandwich ever made.

My heart is a little worried but my stomach is SO excited!

  17. wibia says:

I know that it is junk, but I kind of like these.

  18. Ivane says:

LOL rob! I’ve never had one of these, but I might have to try one…

  19. Sarah says:

I’ve never had a McRib, I’m going to give it a try.

Also need to catch the Shamrock Shake next year…

    stock up and freeze them!
