Food News: Iron Man 2 and Burger King Team Up for the Whiplash Whopper

The blockbuster movie season is closing in and Iron Man 2 looks to be kicking it off May 7th.  I get geeked up for comic book movies and almost as equally geeked up for cheesy promotions.  I’m not a big fan of product placement in movies so let’s hope this time around I don’t see Tony Stark grubbing on Burger King in the actual movie.  Outside of the movie, there will be the debut of a new Burger King Whopper called the Whiplash Whopper.  Check out our FULL REVIEW.

Whiplash is the Mickey Rourke character pegged as the villain in the movie.  Burger Business is reporting the new Whiplash Whopper will be topped with “crispy onions and cheese”…also looks like some sort of special sauce.  Little is known on the exact ingredients, but I’ll report as soon as more is known…and expect a review too.  UPDATE: READ FULL REVIEW

Hey, maybe a BK commercial will turn it around, and we’ll see the King starved for sophisticated entertainment for months and subsequently go see Iron Man 2!

Looks like European Steakhouse, just with normal Whopper bun.

This thing sounds awesome. Someone apparently got it on another website. It has jalapeno crumbles, some sort of spicy sauce, possibly new/different and I think it’s pepper jack cheese that’s on it, I’m not sure. If you Google it, you should see the article.

You must have missed the obvious BK product placement in Iron Man!

My Aussie friend…I didn’t miss it at all. That’s why I said “I hope this time around I don’t see Tony Stark grubbing on Burger King in the actual movie.” I definitely recall that part in the first movie and I hope they don’t repeat it. I kinda don’t mind the Audi though.

I never have a problem with products being plugged in movies. Most of the time, it’s tasteful, and funny. I liked the BK plug in Iron Man. Who can’t relate to what Tony Stark went through, wanting to get a burger after such a long time under captivity in a foreign country? If it were me, I would have gotten an awesome burger, but BK would have been just as good.

haha at me. I read that title and thought you were kidding ’round.

All I see is a thin little piece of burger patty and tons of vegetables and bun. yuck. Give me more MEAT!!!!

My worry isn’t about a placement plug for a below par fast food joint. I’m more concerned if the movie will be any good or not. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the first movie, as most comic book influenced movies blow for the most part. When they are good, the second one ends up sucking the big one. The 2nd Transformers was just horrid with all the cutsie kiddie conriness. Of course the second X-Men was good, but the third stunk to high heaven. The new have Spider Man, which the first two just completely stunk, and the third was pretty decent. I’m not letting my expectations get to high for the new Iron Man. Oh, both Fantastic 4 movies were just plain terrible.

Oops, that was supposed to be corniness.

This movie has a good chance of being decent. It has the same director. The only problem is that it was rushed into production. It’s only been 2 years since the last Iron Man.

Funny story, I went into Burger King for breakfast two days ago and asked the cashier if they were selling the Whiplash Whopper. He said no, it wouldn’t be out for another week. Then I moved to the side to wait for my order, and he inquired as to how I knew about the Whiplash. I told him about Grubgrade. He was shocked that people could find out such things from the internet!

Lmao, the SECOND Transformers was horrid. Hehehehehe. It really was unrealistic.

  9. The spicy sauce is just spicy mayonnaise. The burger is good, not great. If you want, you can go check out our review on Everyview.

I meant to share it here after I published it but I forgot. 😛

Anyway, I hope that helps answer any questions!
