Food News: Hawaiian Grilled Chicken Salad from Carl’s Jr.

Another new menu item at Carl’s Jr. which features pineapple.  I’m not complaining 🙂 …except of course for the fact that I’m an east-coaster… maybe Hardee’s will follow?  Carl’s Jr. has introduced the new Hawaiian Grilled Chicken Salad.  Available at participating locations for $4.99 (price may vary). Looks good! Although some chopped peanuts would make it for me!

  2. SkippyMom says:

Looks like a nice taste combination. I wonder if the pineapple is grilled too? I love grilled pineapple.

  3. RTGoodman says:

It might look good, but check out the nutritional info. It’s almost as bad for you as the KFC DoubleDown, with more calories and only slightly lower fat and sodium! No thanks!

  4. Justin says:

Yeah I like pineapples on my pizza and salad, got a problem with that?

I used to eat the regular grilled chicken salad from Carls (which was mediocre), but this salad does not look appealing at all. Even the picture looks gross to me.

You guys should do a review of Wendys new line of salads. The college I attend actually has a Wendys on campus and Ive had their Spicey Chicken Ceaser prolly 5 times in the last two weeks. Very good. Fresh. And I love how they wait to put the chicken on the salad until you order so its not just sitting there in the cooler.

I also heard that apple salad was very good.

    One Love

Working on them now… still have 2 to go. I’ll try to have a review up by early next week. I still haven’t tried the Spicy Chicken Caesar, but I’m looking forward to it.

  6. I love the use of pineapple here, that looks so good.

  7. Alex says:

hey ryan, just a quick Q.
Do you guys take any requests for reviews? I usually wouldn’t ask, but I saw this commercial for some new “Reese’s Peanut Butter-Chips Ahoy Cookies”, and I’ve been dying for a review, yet I can’t find it anywhere :/

600 calories for a salad. More than is in a Big Mac. I love fruit in salads, and I tend to really like asian style salads as well. But even if these come to Hardee’s (the Carl Jrs. of the Midwest) this will be a pass for me.

  9. Laura says:

I could be missing something, but the NI on their site says 260 calories….I don’t think the dressing is THAT bad??

  10. Alec says:

    Don’t forget the Wonton strips.

Remove the strips and go light on the dressing, then I’m sure it’s relatively okay for you. Same with the Wendy’s salads – just remove the unhealthier aspects or at least cut back, and you’ll be fine.

  11. J.B. says:

Looks good, too bad I can’t get Carls Jr in my lousy state….

  12. Maddison says:

According to their site, the salad has 260 calories and 8 grams of fat. The Asian dressing has 120 calories and 8 grams of fat, when using the entire packet. So it seems like the whole thing is more like 380 calories and 16 grams of fat?

    • Ryan says:

Yeah, the Carl’s site had the wrong nutrition info early Thursday morning when I published this. They actually used the nutrition info for a burger I think. My brother made me aware of the issue too. I will update. Thanks!

Please let Hardee’s add this soon, along with a Hawaiian grilled chicken sandwich with pineapple! I would love this!
