Season’s Eatings: Great Harvest Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread

Dining Hall Pumpkin Pie? Tempting, but no thanks. I’ll stick to the best tasting quick bread the world has ever seen. That’s right. As in EVER.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

Longtime readers know that I’m a Great Harvest junkie, but I find it harder to get out to my local bakery these days because of the high price of their breads and my otherwise set meal-plan. Still, nothing does a body or soul better on a cool November morning  than a thick slice of one of the Great Harvest’s GINORMOUS free samples of a bread of your choice. While I usually stick to their savory breads, I couldn’t say no to this slice of Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread. Moist, sweet, and brimming with thick, semi-melted chocolate chips, it made the perfect “guilty pleasure” breakfast after a morning walk through the streets of Logan.

Question of the Day: If you could pick one fall/holiday treat to have everyday all year, what would it be? I think you know my answer from the above 🙂

  1. I’m so jealous. I WANT ONEEEE. Even from here it looks moist!!! Anything pumpkin is my answer!

My two favorite holiday meals are tied – one is Thanksgiving and the other is Corned Beef and cabbage for St. Patricks Day.

Out of all the ingredients to each meal if I could only pick one it would have to be homemade oyster dressing with gravy. THAT I could eat all year. [in fact we almost do! :)]

If it had to be store bought? Fresh pumpernickel bread [goes with the cb&c] or yeast rolls.

I think I might have to go with my mom’s pumpkin bread.

I got my first loaf of Great Harvest bread last weekend, and it’s amazing! It’s the “Dakota” variety. Very nutty and dense, almost like a pumpkin bread but not as sweet. They did give me a generous sample of the pumpkin swirl bread, too!

  4. I too am a Great Harvest junkie. I’ve been getting it since my childhood in Oregon. The Pumpkin Chocolate Chip bread is my favorite sweet bread they offer (the Cheddar Garlic as my favorite savory one) I have been known to go on a GH bread binge a time or two, and I have downed one of these loaves in one sitting. I don’t suggest this of course, but it’s good enough that I can eat the whole thing and be greedy enough not to share.

I would go with pumpkin puree for my treat. And I do eat it all year. muahahahha.

It’s great plain and I do that sometimes if im lazy(er) but it’s also good with pumpkin pie spice and vanilla and sugar and yogurt/cottage cheese/cream cheese/etc. and heated up. cool whip on top, insta-pie! yum.

Damn, wish I still worked a few doors down from the Great Harvest in Manchester, CT. I loved the cheddar bread, and the pepperoni roll is just stupid-good.

Actually, in some parts, you can get the Pumpkin Bread year round on Fridays… before they run out!

And yes, it is literally the best bread– it more resembles a super moist muffin on roids with those chocolate chips…

I once ate a loaf by myself when it had just come out of the oven…

Sometimes I should not look here when I’m hungry. The hunger pangs just got louder. Bah!
