Food News: Lighter Fare Menu at Einstein Bros. Bagels and Noah’s

Einstein Bros. Bagels has introduced a new low-cal menu.

From QSRMag:

In a time when menus can come with a generous portion of calories, Einstein Bros. Bagels and Noah’s Bagels are introducing an all-new Lighter Fare menu, with three lunch items and two breakfast items, each containing less than 400 calories.

The limited-time lunch menu will be available from April 1, 2009 through June 30 and the breakfast menu beginning July 1, 2009 through September 29 at participating Einstein Bros. and Noah’s restaurants nationwide. Prices and locations subject to availability.

I unfortunately didn’t notice this new menu yesterday when I stopped by Einstein for lunch.  I’m not sure if I have the strength and willpower to resist the California Chicken Wrap.  I had my blinders on.  It clocks in at 630 calories, 29 grams of fat and is as big as a Chipotle burrito.  Observe.

California Chicken Wrap from Einstein Bros. Bagels

Grilled natural chicken wrapped in a wheat tortilla with garlic herb cream cheese, greens, tomato, cucumber, red onion, alfalfa sprouts & a zesty roasted tomato spread.

I hope their egg white sandwhiches are better than DD’s. They should be; the Good Grains bagel is better than that flatbread crap DD serves their’s in. I like the addition of salsa too; it’s too versitile a condiment not to use.

  2. All of those look delicious. I love egg white omletes. Never had an egg white sandwich. Your California Chicken wrap would probably be close to the other calories counts if you dropped the garlic herb cream cheese dressing and added the salsas.

I eat most of my meals with salsa or mustard….or both. It’s a great way to add flavor without too many calories.

    Bear,
I’m the same way, although I hate wimpy Salsa, and I prefer spicy or dijon mustard. I also love places which have the little packets of Malt Vinegar, although I’ve only found them at a few places including the regional chain Anderson’s up in Buffalo.

Any place that can offer me more than mayo or some kind of “spread” is good in my book.

I give EB credit for coming back to the “healthy option.” Those “low-carb” bagels they tried out 3-4 years ago were a disaster…

    That wrap looks amazing.

That Ancho chicken wedge was delicious but tiny! I had a 2 for 1 coupon and was still hungry after eating both. I actually turned around and drove back to the store because I thought they forgot to put the second order in the box.
Certainly not paying $12 + drink for lunch @ Noahs!

I have had the egg white florentine wedge with turkey sausage several times now, and I would highly recommend it. I used to always get a bagel with a schmear of sun dried tomato basil reduced fat cream cheese, but now I have a tough time deciding between the two.

  9. Rich says:

The Florentine wrap was really quite good – too hot to touch for a while after coming out of the micro. There seemed to be too much going on for 400 calories. Big wonk of eggwhite. Lots of reasonably flavored turkey sausage. The flavored cream cheese fully melted had almost a buttery/mayo like quality – and the wheat wrap was tasty – not like kraft paper. A win!

I just tried the Egg White Florentine Wedge and it was soooo amazing!!!! OMG!! I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone!! Yum!

I have been eating that egg white florentine wedge now for a couple of weeks (I’ve had it like 3 times!!) and it is amazing, really! For 4oo calories, it seems too good to be true…where can I get the whole nutritional breakdown for it? (I have emailed the company as well…but no answer yet…)
