What Do You Think Of Dairy Queen’s Mini Blizzard?

August 20, 2010 By: Ryan Category: Food News, Observations, Polls

Back in April we brought you news of a new Blizzard size coming to Dairy Queen… the time is here and in full swing!  Sometimes, I’m cool with not consuming a day’s worth of calories with a simple dessert.  That’s why the new Dairy Queen Mini Blizzard is a welcome change and long overdue.  A cheaper option in a smaller package… Thank You DQ!!!

What do you think of the new smaller DQ Blizzard option? Leave a comment and I’ll pick a winner for a Dairy Queen $5.00 gift card.  Sound good?

First Impressions: The Raspberry Truffle Blizzard from Dairy Queen

May 01, 2009 By: Heather Category: First Impressions

I love the rasberry and chocolate combination so I couldn’t resist trying Dairy Queen’s Blizzard of the Month for May,  The Raspberry Truffle Blizzard.  I was a little disappointed when I pulled up to the drive-thru and it wasn’t listed on the menu.  Not to worry though, I asked if they had it and they asked what size I wanted.

0101I was actually surprised with this blizzard.  As you can see from the pic above, it was overflowing with ice cream.  The blizzard is made with vanilla ice cream, raspberry topping  and chocolate truffles.  You may like this blizzard even if you are not a big fan of raspberry.  It didn’t have a strong raspberry flavor and the  specs of raspberries in the ice cream were so small you hardly knew they were there.  There were just enough chocolate truffles in it where you got a few in every bite.  The blizzard was not overly rich as was Aprils Blizzard of the Month, “The Midnight Truffle Blizzard”.   At first I thought that maybe it could use a little more raspberry flavoring, but overall it was a great combination.   For some reason, this blizzard was a bit more “melty” than what I’m used to with DQ’s blizzards.  Overall though, it’s all about taste and my experience was a perfect mixture of chocolate and raspberry.

Very "melty"

The price is $3.29 for a small, $3.49 for a medium and $3.99 for a large.

First Impressions: Midnight Truffle Blizzard from DQ

April 04, 2009 By: Ryan Category: First Impressions

Just sampled the “Blizzard of the Month” for April over at Dairy Queen.  The Midnight Truffle Blizzard is overwhelmingly chocolaty.  I figured by the pics released on the DQ website that it would be chocolate ice cream and chocolate truffles.  Well it’s vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and a TON of small chocolate truffles.  The fact that the ice cream was vanilla and not chocolate does absolutely nothing to cover up the fact that this thing is so packed with rich chocolate taste.  It seems like with each bite there were at least 2 small truffles/truffle pieces.  So rich…if you are in to chocolate you will look passed the fact that there isn’t chocolate ice cream in it.  Here are some pics.

Food News: Midnight Truffle Blizzard from Dairy Queen

April 01, 2009 By: James Category: Food News

Today is the beginning of a new month and that means it’s time for a new Dairy Queen Blizzard.  The newest edition of Dairy Queen’s Blizzard of the Month has been unveiled.  Last month “DQ” released the Mint Oreo Blizzard,  April’s treat is the Midnight Truffle Blizzard.  This latest “blizzard of the month” sounds like a chocolate lovers dream.   It combines rich chocolate truffles and chunks of cocoa fudge with silky vanilla soft serve ice cream.  You cannot go wrong with the chocolate and vanilla combination.

I usually like to keep my ice cream simple, plain chocolate or vanilla with some crushed oreos, but there are some who love really rich, decadent desserts.  If you are one of those people this sounds like the blizzard for you.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

March 17, 2009 By: Ryan Category: Food News, Polls

After being up for a couple of days, the Shamrock Shake vs Mint Oreo Blizzard Poll shows that 57 out of 111 voters would at least choose Dairy Queen’s Mint Oreo Blizzard.  49 voters chose the Blizzard and 8 voters chose both the Blizzard and the McDonald’s Shamrock Shake.  As I expected, looks like the Oreo cookie puts DQ in the winners circle.
