Review: Dip’n Chick’n from Popeyes

The scoop-shaped chicken known as Dip’n Chick’n is the latest from Popeyes.  Served with a nice sized portion of smoky blackened ranch dipping sauce.  Delicious smoky, peppery blend.  I held back on doing a full on review because this is the same Popeyes chicken that we’ve written about here and here and here…  (plus these are phone pics, sorry).  So anyways, I’ll keep this brief, but let me just say, at $3.99, this is one of the best fast food deals out there.  Especially when you consider a premium sized fast food burger runs at about 4 bucks on its own. For $3.99 you get the Dip’n Chick’n with double portion blackened ranch dipping sauce, a side and a biscuit.

I loved Dip’n Chick’n.  Also from reading some of the comments on the news post, I decided to go with Mashed Potatoes with Cajun Gravy as my side instead of the Cajun Fries.  It’s under there somewhere.  Don’t hesitate to use the Dip’n Chick’n as a scoop for the Mashed Potatoes and gravy :) … wow that makes me sound super fat.  There were 10 pieces of chicken of various nugget/strip/tender sizes in my box of grub.  Plenty of food for $3.99.

Upgrading a drink to the order will make your combo go from $3.99 to a little shy of $6.  I avoided the Sweeeeeet Iced Tea and just stuck with the $3.99 deal.  So the only thing new about Dip’n Chick’n is the shape, name and sauce. No complaints here, work with what you’ve got Popeyes.  I’m a fan.  Now if only my local Popeyes didn’t take an eternity to get my order together…

Pros: Great tasty value. Double sized portion blackened ranch dipping sauce.

Cons: The unlucky ones that might only get 5 or 6 pieces compared to my 10.

I’ll take a gift certificate for Popeye’s, if you please.

    that sauce looks so good!

I really liked the sauce as well.

And I agree about the slowness of getting your food. Popeyes and White Castle are about the slowest fast food places out there, IMO. Maybe it is just the anticipation factor which makes it seem even longer than it really is.

All of my local Popeye’s are pretty slow, but the one good thing about it, is that their food is always hot and fresh. Well, at my local Popeye’s that is.

Lol, I love how you called this the same stuff as always and casualy gave it a 9.00. Also, good call on the mash there buddy. It is waaay healthier than fries as well. Don’t get me wrong though, the fries are excelent… they just need gravy. =)

I never understood their wicked chicken commercials. Or their dipping chicken really. They seem like really thin pieces of chicken (which I like), but nothing super special.

I have read reviews though, so I might have to go try. And the ranch sauce sounds worth trying.

I’m one of the unlucky ones, and only got seven pieces when I tried, but it’s still a good deal at $3.99. I’m going to give these another try tomorrow on my way home from the liquor store, and see how many I get a second time around. I’m ditching the fries for mashed taters as well.

ugh i got it today and im really disappointed first of all i only got 7 pieces but eh it is what it is it was still good haha and 2nd i never got my sauce like wth im pretty sure i don’t have to ask for it and yet they never put in the box and i never noticed it right away oh popeyes how stupid ya’ll are to piss me off over a cup of sauce lmao

Damn. I can’t think of a time I’ve gone to popeye’s and not been disappointed. Granted I’ve only gone like two or three times. Mostly just really slow service, bland rice, and making me sign credit card receipt (finally didn’t do this last time). Went in for the dipin chicken but they’d run out till Thursday!! (I went on Monday). Who runs out of their most highly advertised item! Got a chicken PO boy instead. Quite possibly the most disgusting meal I’ve had in a long LONG time! I think my heart literally started beating much faster when I was done eating it from all the salt. Great mashed, though. Very yummy and flavorful, just as stated by many. Unfortunately I might not ever find out if they’re right about the dipin chicken as well

Mine weren’t even scooped shaped. They were in little balls like popcorn chicken.
