First Impressions: Pulled Pork from Burger King
The Pulled Pork sandwich from Burger King was about what I expected. The pre-manufactured pulled pork was similar to what you might find at a high school football game or mom-and-pop drive-in somewhere where they don’t have any idea what real BBQ is. It wasn’t the worst I’ve ever had, but it did not surpass my low expectations by even a little bit.

The execution was TERRIBLE… the top bun halfway off with most of the meat pushed to one side…and over-generously slathered with the coleslaw sauce from the “Carolina BBQ” sandwich which was a complete surprise. It was probably a good addition, but there was way too much (a problem I have found consistently over the years with BK: heavy-handed and sloppy condiment application). Overall, nothing completely offensive but nothing I would order again.

It looks like a sloppy joe sandwich too me. But i’ll still probably try it.
Ahhh, no pictures of the real thing?
Truth be told, I don’t even find the above picture all that appetizing. And that’s a promo pic, which I would assume is the best case scenario.
I just grabbed it in the drive-thru. It was such a mess that I wasn’t going to be able to eat it while driving…so I didn’t…and I did consider taking a picture of it…but it was so sloppily thrown together that I felt bad and didn’t want to COMPLETELY throw them under the bus. I guess that makes me a bad “journalist” LOL
Would it be possible for you describe the coleslaw “sauce” in greater detail Adam? i understand if you can’t, but since I am never going to pay to eat one of these or even to satisfy my curiosity. I would like a first hand account of what constitutes coleslaw “sauce’. Intriguing and a bit frightening.
And I have to agree with Ray and Manavee. Manavee made me laugh, but it’s true!
You can buy coleslaw dressing in the salad dressing section (either refrigerated or non-) of your local grocery — and this stuff is likely one of those same brands, probably made by Ken’s (I don’t know if they market that at the consumer level or not). It is basically an attempt to recreate the ingredients of a mayonnaise-based old-fashioned coleslaw that you might make at home: mayo, vinegar, sugar…maybe a dash of yellow mustard. The BK variety tasted a lot like a very tangy honey mustard and had a similar consistency to a bottle variety of the same.
It amazes me that Burger King can actually ruin pulled pork. Okay, maybe I’m not actually amazed, but c’mon, you’ve really gotta try to make pulled pork suck.
Take a picture next time maaaan
BK tries to make a pork BBQ sandwich … that just sounds terrible 0 they’d be better offer making some type of a McRib clone
whoa, 5.49? is that for the sandwich alone?
No, 5.49 is for the meal.
I want to try it.. I wish they’d stop using the “artisan style” buns on their new sandwiches though. Not a fan.
Me too — they’ve started using those on the Big Fish, but I much preferred the previous ‘corn dusted’ bun.
Well if it is any consolation, I’m pretty sure the bun mine was served on was NOT Artisan. Probably just a mistake, but…
hmm, I have no expectation to this new burger.
Adam,
What exactly was this “cole slaw sauce” like?
See my reply to SkippyMom above =)
Looks like an ass backwards Sloppy Joe
Burger King is a joke. Seems the employees could mess up the recipe to ice cubes.
There are so many things BK needs to invest in (decent produce, decent fries, employee training etc), why waste money on this crap? Ugh.
They are sure wasting enough money on the “Stars” in their new commercials. The “new” products to me seem like a half a**ed attempt at playing catch up to the competition. Chicken wraps, Frappes, Smoothies, Salads. Nothing different or done better at all.
looks yucky!!
