Fast Food Review: Loaded Chicken Wrap from Popeyes
Anyone that knows me, knows that I do not like spicy food. Popeyes is famous for their Louisiana-style of cooking with an array of Cajun seasoning and spices. A visit to Popeyes for me has always been a very rare occasion when I am in the mood for the Popcorn Shrimp meal. I do love the flavor of Popeyes breading even though it lights my mouth on fire (I know, I’m a wimp). Because of the spiciness, Popeyes has never been a preferred place for me. I tried the Loaded Chicken Wrap recently and it quickly became a reason to stop by Popeyes more often.

The Loaded Chicken Wrap is on the Popeyes “Big Deals” menu.
Popeyes describes this wrap like this:
This wrap folds a golden, crispy, all-white meat chicken breast tender and Popeyes famous red beans and rice into a warm cheddar tortilla-with a side of Louisiana hot sauce.
I think that I am addicted to this wrap. It is a simple wrap, but it has a great combination of flavors. The chicken tender is moist, and breaded with the Popeyes Cajun seasoned breading which gives it a little heat. Most fast food wraps use the same couple of fillings. Some lettuce, some tomato and some cheese. The Popeyes wrap is void of any lettuce/tomato and instead uses the staples, red beans and rice. The red beans and rice aren’t really anything special, but I think they do a lot to help balance the little bite from the tender. All of this wrapped in a tasty cheesy tortilla. I don’t use the Louisiana hot sauce, but it does come on the side if you decide you want more kick.
The Popcorn Shrimp meal is the only thing I had eaten at Popeye’s before this . The Loaded Chicken Wrap is now a worthy replacement and at $1.49, it isn’t too hard on your wallet.

Pros: The breaded chicken and red beans and rice make for a nice and unique combination. Inexpensive. Great for grubbing on the go.
Cons: Will take at least 2 to fill you up. Leaves you wanting more. Tons of sodium for not-so-filling wrap.

Did the tortilla taste like cheese to you? When I tried it it just tasted like a plain tortilla or is it really just subtle?
ahhhhh, why did I have to watch this site at midnight!!! Now I am craving for Popeye!!!
I don’t know about having two of these to fill me up… seems rather bland. but of course, I have not tried it yet.
Anyway if I happen to stop by a Popeye’s, I’ll try one of these. $1.49 isn’t too bad and the sodium and fat content are not astronomically high (unless I happen to be eating an entire chicken and seafood box as well…)
After reading this, I now want to actually go to Popeye’s. We finally got one in town a year or so ago, and I haven’t been by, since we really don’t do fast food. This review makes me want to try it now!
i love this it is the whole meal
